I wore this shirt to my cousin’s high school graduation party. No one within his age range knew what this was. It was archaic and distant.

I remember the VJ’s. The music. The people. Visiting Toronto as a kid and looking through the window on Queen Street West. Then living in Toronto and seeing it fade. Am I wrong, or was life better when we had Much Music?

My gen was @rick_campanelli (friend of my dearly departed @therealsunnysidhu ), @strombo, and later Devon, Leah. Respect to the late Juliette.

I even got to know some of these peeps. Got to attend a Strombo house party. And all I feel is gratitude. Music unites. Much Music helped all the misfits and squares congregate to vibe together.

To Gen Z and Gen Alpha - you were robbed, and I hope you bring a resurgence to what was good. We had it so good.

An accounting: We had my friend @bifnakedofficial , Sum 41, Billy Talent, Simple Plan, GOB, Avril Lavigne, Finger Eleven, Bare naked Ladies - LATER we had Metric, Arcade Fire, Mother Mother, July Talk. Of recent we have @jessiereyez and @itsruthb. So many great Canadian artists.

I consider Drake, Weekend, and Biebs to be in the American system, tbh. Also, all kind of medium on an artistic level. Popular, yeah, but not like foundational. I also just miss ROCK. by @akashsherman

Flawless Victory!!! I’m a casual Mortal Kombat fan at most, but I was blown away by this movie. Not only did it improve in every way from its average predecessor, it doubled down on what fans want. It’s possibly the best and biggest video game movie of all time, and it achieved everything I hoped. It perfectly balances a large ensemble cast, with strong characterization, weaving through many fights and plot points effortlessly. This is essentially its own Avengers film, with the execution of Infinity War. Its sheer enormity and embracement of the source material is a strength. This is exactly what I wanted out of a May blockbuster.

Karl Urban as Johnny Cage and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana were perfection. Go see it in IMAX! If you’re not too squeamish lol by @akashsherman

SWIPE RIGHT to hear some of the awesome soundtrack for SINGHS IN THE RING. The original music in our documentary truly packs a punch. Gagan Singh fused elements of cinematic orchestra, Punjabi harmoniums and percussion, old western, 80’s synth, meditative and soulful vibrations, and full on bombastic battle music. The film weaves together themes of hardship, triumph, love, loss, cultural identity, sport, choice, and most of all… family.

We’re honoured to be nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for original music. I am so proud of everyone’s hard work on this film - producers, editors, cinematographer, colourist, and all involved. Shoutout to the late great Sunny Sidhu - this one’s for you!

Rob Reiner contributed to so many of our identities with his ubiquitous and beloved films. I can only imagine how many others grew up with the Princess Bride, the most quotable film ever. The people who came of age watching Stand by Me and discovering the dynamics of love with When Harry Met Sally. The amount of bonding time we have all experienced because of this man’s films made life and our shared culture so much richer. People like him enrich the world with TIMELESS joy, thanks to his spirit and craft. His films will endure forever.

I am devastated that he and his wife left the world in this manner. It is shattering. It is unbelievable.

Rob, thank you so much for inspiring us. I hope you get to hang out with your dad Carl and Norah Ephron on the other side, and share laughter forever. by @akashsherman

“Singhs in the Ring unfolds with precision and lyricism, tracing the life of Gama Singh and his wrestling legacy with both intimacy and grandeur. Through a careful interplay of kinetic ring sequences and quiet domestic moments, the film transforms personal history into a meditation on heritage, ambition, and resilience. Every shot, rhythm, and gesture is meticulously composed, reflecting a cinematic sensibility that is both rigorous and profoundly human.” - IFFSA

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel watching this come to life.

This heartfelt documentary has been a labor of love, and I’m incredibly grateful for the tireless efforts from the entire team — especially our amazing producer and director @akashsherman — for bringing this powerful story to the screen.

At last, the world gets to see the story of a great artist, a devoted father, and an extraordinary man and the way he laid the ground work for a lot of us.

His journey deserves to be told — and now, it finally is. ❤️
