Even 3 years ago, this would have felt like a “long shot.” 10 years ago, my younger self would have laughed at the idea. I’m so proud to have presented on my own at the National Dance Education Organization’s Annual Conference. An immigrant. An English learner. Someone who still gets nervous speaking in front of a room full of adults. ⁡ Big dreams do come true! Dance Education Cafe 第3弾、3都市で開催します！ 今回は『スイミー』を題材にしたレッスンプランのお土産付きです📖🐟 私がアメリカに来て、一番衝撃を受けたことは、「言われたことをやる」のは得意なのに、「じゃあ、自分で考えてやってみて！」と言われると、何もできなくなってしまう自分でした。 大学のクラスメイト達は、自主性や創造力が高く、失敗を恐れずに創作＆発言していました。その違いに悔しい思いをしている私が想像出来ると思います！ そんな時に出会ったのが、Dance Education Laboratory（DEL）。 DELは、「創作ダンスを教える方法」を大人達に教える団体。しっかりとしたフレームワークを土台にしながらも、状況や子どもたちに合わせて柔軟に展開できるレッスンプランの作り方を学びました。どんなテーマでもダンスの学びへとつなげられることを知りました。 ダンスが、身体能力やリズム感を育むのはもちろん！ 学習意欲、言語能力、自主性、表現力、クリエイティビティ、チームワーク、自信、リーダーシップ、思いやり、自己肯定感など、強く人生を生きていく力を育む可能性を持っています。 もちろん、振付を学び、技術を磨くダンスも大好きです🩰 でも私は、「自分で＆みんなで創るダンス」にも、同じくらい大きな可能性があると信じています。 教科学習とダンスをつないだり、子どもたちが自分のアイデアを形にしたり。 そんなダンス教育を、日本でももっと広げていきたい！ そんな思いで始めたのが Dance Education Cafe です。 2024年に発足し、お茶の水女子大学の橋本有子さん、追手門学院の福岡小百合さんという心強い仲間と一緒に活動しています。 ダンスの先生はもちろん、学校の先生、保育士さん、学生さん、「ダンス教育って面白そう！」と思った方、ぜひ！✨ダンス経験が全く無い方も大歓迎です！お子さん連れでも大丈夫！ 一緒に、ダンス教育の可能性を語りましょう！ お申し込みは、バイオのリンクから。皆さんにお会いできるのを楽しみにしています！😄 ⁡ ご協力いただく追手門学院中・高等学校さま、立脇紘子バレエ研究所さま、神楽坂セッションハウスさま、いつも温かいご支援を本当にありがとうございます！⁡ #DanceEducationCafe 略して #DECafe #ダンス #教育 #ダンス教育 by @akdance.ny

Three years ago today (4/16/23), Phantom closed on Broadway. Yesterday (4/15/26), I stepped back into that world—making my debut as a vacation swing with @phantomtour in Salt Lake City. Here’s to my 752nd show and my 1st on the National Tour! Life is magical, and I’m beyond grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🫶 To this company: warm, supportive, kind—and incredibly talented and dedicated. I feel so lucky to be among you. Thank you for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to do my favorite show again. My dancer life changed for the better 11 years ago, thanks to @dariodinuzzi and the solo he choreographed for my college senior solo. Ballet dancer Ayaka took on the challenge, and I’m forever grateful for that experience. (Of course, I have a few notes for my younger self!) Lately, I’ve been feeling nostalgic. “Reset” — a reminder we get to refresh parts of our lives: mindset, habits, relationships, expectations.
