LONGEST RUN!
#runner #running #pyramidshalfmarathon by @akeelmazhar

4 months ago, my long run was what I now call an easy day.

My coach and I track every number. But the real progress is quieter: what used to be my limit is now my warm-up. My runs changed. My sleep changed. My food changed. The way I think changed.

I’m not chasing more. I’m protecting this.

❤️ by @akeelmazhar

Midlife crisis, but make it measurable.
Signs you’re about to turn 35:
✔️ You own a Whoop and actually check it
✔️ You get emotional about Zone 2
✔️ You signed up for a half marathon “for fun”
Some people buy a sports car. I bought running shoes and a food scale. Started running in June, got serious about nutrition in September, and ended the month at the lowest body fat of my life. Midlife crisis going great, thanks 🏃‍♂️
10K in November. Half marathon in December. Send help (and carbs).

June: “I’ll just jog a bit.” September: weighing my rice.

@mostafaamin_

Lost 3.2 kg of fat. Gained a strong opinion about Greek yogurt brands.

Other people get a new year in January. Almost-35-year-olds get one on September 1st.

Face of a man who almost skipped and didn’t.

My Whoop said “absolutely not.” I said “easy pace, trust me.”

25% recovery, 100% stubborn.

Zero planning, new PR. Don’t ask me to repeat it.

Backwards cap = PR energy. That’s just science.

Being passed by a guy walking his dog is humbling. That’s the point.

8:32/km and never been prouder.

The crisis continues. 10K in November, then a half marathon, because apparently I do that now.

Real motivation: I’m scared he’ll outrun me before I hit 40. by @akeelmazhar

I never wanted to admit that I was addicted to social media, especially instagram! I always gave myself the excuse that I can’t get off it because of my work and I check ideas and learn new things for my business and my day job. Not until I got myself to try putting using it under limitation. Today is September 6 and It has been almost 3 weeks since I deleted the app on my phone. I went down to less than 10 mins a day on my iPad either checking my dms very quickly (because something about the iPad app makes it not as addictive as the iPhone app) or just using it to post to the pages I manage.
To my surprise, this past period, NOTHING happened. There is no magical time that appeared that made me more productive or made me finish reading an entire book for example (maybe I should start doing that). Nor did I change my life around and became super efficient. BUT also, there is nothing that I missed. I thought I was going to be missing out of on a lot, but I didn’t. I am still connected to all the people I love and the information I needed still reached me somehow. I want to say my mind is a bit clearer, I don’t go on this doomscrolling zombie mood. I stopped using my phone a lot around my kids. And more importantly, nothing made me feel down without knowing the reason behind it.
See, what I thought was “inspiration” turned out to actually be comparison, that always led to me feeling that whatever I am doing is not good enough. Every time I open instagram now, I feel down instantly. I get this feeling like whatever I am doing is not up there to the highest standards, even if I am doing my best. I started to realize what every research paper has said for the past 10 years, social media is a place where we lose much more than we gain.
I didn’t delete my account yet, and I do not think that I ever will, but I think I’ll keep this limited usage on for a while and post every now and then. I was never big on posting anyway!
In the end I am only sharing, not preaching. I myself don’t even know how long ill be holding this :)
Leaving you here with some photos of what has been up! by @akeelmazhar

I’m not big on social media, and I don’t share much, but this one is for me to look back on — and for whoever might find some relevance in it.

I got dragged into the CUT program at BeFit 360 by my friend Muhammad Sami, more than 10 years after completing this same program for the first time.

This time, it was an even bigger mental challenge.

The last time I committed to a program like this was over 10 years ago, and life has changed A LOT since then. One wife and two kids later, life is definitely not the same as it was back then — and honestly, the first CUT program was already physically and mentally challenging at the time, so imagine how it feels now.

For years, I gave myself excuses for why I couldn’t commit to sleeping at the same time every night, waking up early every morning, sticking to nutrition, and consistently showing up to training.

But this time, I felt it was about time.

I’m almost 34, and I realized this may be my last real chance to build a healthy foundation for the years ahead.

My reasons, however, have completely shifted from the ones I had 10 years ago.

I’m not doing this to fit in or for physical appearance.

I’m doing it so I can show up to work every day mentally and physically ready.
I’m doing it so I can still play with my kids when I’m 50 and they’re 20 and 17.
I’m doing it to fulfill the responsibility of taking care of Allah’s blessing of the body.

And for many more reasons.

I know that to many reading this, it may not seem like a huge achievement, but for me, it was a huge mental barrier to break through.

I consider these past two weeks the beginning of becoming the best version of myself — physically and mentally — by the time I’m 40,

Whatever the “results” of these two weeks may be, I already consider myself a winner today.

But I’ll share them with you tomorrow anyway.

Thank you for reading until the end.

#9barStrong #bestTeam by @akeelmazhar
