“A man who stands for nothing, will fall for anything” - Malcom X

I stand before you as a proud, Black, Alpha man who truly believes in the reality of Black excellence. The adversity and perseverance my community has experienced, inspires me to achieve more.

Positioned in front of the Reconciliation Memorial, dedicated to two African Americans who contributed to the mission of Samford University, I embrace not only the legacy of them but also the legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.

Manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind. An aim that gave my fraternity purpose, motivation, and distinction during a point of time where our nation was not unified. As an Alpha man, I alongside all of my brothers, hold the name high and continue to grow the legacy of our bold and trailblazing founders.

Thank you to the Tau Iota chapter for welcoming me into the house and giving me a brotherhood that has taught me so much!

Bro what!! I literally just bust out laughing because I’m graduating! This is one of the most exciting moments of my life! On May 3, 2025 I will graduate from Samford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Mass Communication with the concentration in broadcast. I am so thankful that the Lord has brought me to a place where I was able to grow personally, mentally, and most importantly spiritually. My journey through college has taught me so much about life and myself. From studying abroad to being a student leader to joining my fraternity, I am truly blessed that I decided to choose Samford!

As a freshman, I remember walking into college with the mindset and the motivation that I wanted to contribute and enhance the community around me. I quickly developed the mindset that representation was key. The key to inspire, the key to connect, the key to growth, and the key to success. I firmly believe that your mindset and your view point are the most powerful factors into whether you succeed or fail. College has taught me that success is only what you make it and not what others define it as for you.

I am grateful to my classmates that I’ve met along the way and to my people who helped and shaped me into the man I am today - thank you, I will never forget it 🙏🏾. As my time comes to a close and I prepare to walk into the world, I will forever remember this university and I am confident and proud to call this place my alma mater home 😁

The end of one chapter is the beginning of the next. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have graduated, try something new, travel with family, and unplug from social media to reconnect with my purpose. The best is yet to come, but all I know is trusting God will never stir you wrong💯#mayrecap taken in LEVEL UP by @akeimthelegend

Breaking news!! I did it 🤝🏾

These past 4 years I have engaged and developed my skills in broadcast journalism at Samford University. From reporting, editing, technical directing, camera operating, and anchoring, I am truly prepared to walk into my news career. Thank you to the Journalism Mass Communication Department for having amazing professors and having a hands on learning environment. I am blessed to have been the recipient of the Emory O. Jackson scholarship from the Birmingham Association of Black Journalists and placing second in the Martin Writing Awards broadcast competition. Although these two awards stick out to me the most, the biggest reward was being able to connect with people and tell their story. Beyond grateful for my experience within journalism and this is just the beginning! 😁#graduation #journalism #explore taken in News by @akeimthelegend

Today, I had the privilege of serving as the Technical Director for the Fall 2024 Commencement Ceremony for Samford University! I first off want to say congratulations to all the graduates that have worked so hard to make it to this moment. Being able to serve in this role has inspired and challenged me in so many ways. I’ve learned to always keep an open mind, never give up in the face of adversity, and also to cherish the time you have with the people around you. The team I worked alongside are an amazing group of people and I couldn’t have done any of this without them! Thank you God and Samford for this opportunity and I’m looking forward to what the future has in store 😁 taken in Samford University by @akeimthelegend

Excitement, honor, and respect for the newly renovated Seibert Hall. From the nostalgic steps of the original gym to networking and connecting with students, faculty, and board of trustees members, I officially deem today one of the best Fridays of my collegiate experience! Thank you Mr. Robert Holmes Jr for giving me a piece of the ribbon cut from such a monumental day! I will never forget it, Go bulldogs 😁 by @akeimthelegend
