Happy Birthday to my Wonder Woman @rimac13 🎉🎉 You set the standard for what it means to be a warrior everyday single day. From the first time I saw you walking across campus I knew you were on your own level and had a vibe like nobody else. And even though you tried to curve me at first I knew my persistence would eventually pay off 😂😂. Fast forward 13 years and I’m married to the most genuine, brutally honest and competitive person I know. @WNBA draft day! Back in 2011 my wife, @RimaC13 and I were working out at the K Center at Duke when she was drafted in the second round with the 23rd overall pick. She missed calls from the Washington Mystics organization, friends and family because we were working out lol! At that time and still, somewhat today, making a WNBA team as a second-round draft pick was a rarity. In about two weeks you have to finish school, go to graduation, pack up your apartment and move to a new city all while trying to compete to take a roster spot from an established vet! While you may outplay several of your teammates in camp you could still get waived or traded for reasons beyond your control. I’m here to tell everyone hoping to get a phone call today to control what you can control! I believe that my wife, who will hopefully start her 10th year in the league sometime this summer 🤞🏽, is still here because she controlled the controllable. Since day one she has worked her ass off in the WEIGHT ROOM and on the court, took on the challenge of guarding the other team's best player and made it a point of emphasis truly learn the pro game from coaches, management, and players. It’s been a blessing to witness and be a part of her development over the last 10 years. Here’s a video tribute to her showing the grit, passion, focus and LOVE you must have to play this game at the highest level!
