Experimental Hip-hop & Breakbeat Psyence. Archival global sound, heavy atmosphere, album-focused.
Welcome home, habibi.

Akhavelli's debut instrumental album "Moorthodox Psyence". Out now on limited vinyl (100 copies) and digital stores. See the links in bio.

The album operates like a recovered transmission from a fractured timeline. Built around a "fictional" time rupture in 1996 where memory, signal and culture begin drifting out of phase, framing the music as something intercepted rather than composed.
Drawing on the dense collage tradition of
sample-based production, the record blends
experimental Trip-Hop, turntablism and
psychedelic rhythm with the hypnotic repetition of Krautrock and the tactile grit of analogue Hip-Hop. Its palette pulls from Japanese Soul and Funk, ex-Soviet Psychedelia, Turkish and North African sources, Arabic textures and classic 90s vocal cuts and scratches. by @akhavelli_

London based producer Akhavelli’s debut (instrumental) album "Moorthodox Psyence", operates like a recovered transmission from a fractured timeline. The project is built around a fictional rupture in 1996 where memory, signal and culture begin drifting out of phase, framing the music as something intercepted rather than composed. Drawing on the dense collage tradition of sample-based production, the record blends experimental Trip-Hop, turntablism and psychedelic rhythm with the hypnotic repetition of Krautrock and the tactile grit of analogue Hip-Hop. Its palette pulls from Japanese Soul and Funk, ex-Soviet Psychedelia, Turkish and North African sources, Arabic textures and classic 90s vocal cuts and scratches. Beneath the surface sits a subtle Sufi influence, positioning the producer less as author than as receiver: sampling as remembrance, sound as a way of piercing the veil between timelines. The result is what Akhavelli calls Breakbeat Psyence: a hypnotic, transportive body of work that feels less like a conventional album and more like a lost artefact recovered from inside a loop in time.

The name Akhavelli is a layered reference. It plays on Machiavelli, both the historical figure and Tupac’s Makaveli, filtered through his background and perspective. Even though "Moorthodox Psyence" is Akhavelli's first release, he has been working under the name Yvng Face, as a producer and as a professional mixing and mastering engineer for over two decades now. He runs a high-end hybrid analog studio and has mixed and mastered major records across multiple genres. That technical background feeds directly into the precision, sonics, and consistency of this album, even though Akhavelli is a distinct artistic identity.

Tracklist:
Side A:
1. Real To Reel
2. Kairo Static
3. Haqq Pulse
4. Kuroi Kagami

Side B:
1. Damo Speaks
2. Kobra Khan
3. Shams Al-Layl
4. Kansho Kage

Big respect to Bra over at @rapmaniacz in Italy for taking the time to properly listen to MOORTHODOX PSYENCE and write such a detailed review.

What I really appreciate is that he understood what I was going for. The Mo' Wax references, the 1996 concept, the sampling, the cuts, the whole approach to production. Even broke down individual tracks. And he wasn't afraid to be critical either, which I respect.

Interesting that the review opens by calling out the amount of soulless AI artwork flooding music these days. Couldn't agree more.

I've translated the full review into English and put it across these slides.

Much respect to everyone who's supported this record. The vinyl is sold out, but the album is still available digitally through Bandcamp.

Swipe through and have a read.

Been a few months since Moorthodox Psyence came out, so I wanted to put some of the story around the record in one place.
9 tracks. Built mostly on the MPC from vinyl, cassette and VHS. A lot of breaks, psychedelia, scratching and records from different corners of the world pulled apart and put back together.
The first vinyl pressing of 100 sold out, and somehow the record has kept travelling. Reviews and coverage have come in from the US, France, Italy and elsewhere, with comparisons to some records and artists that genuinely shaped the way I hear music.
Big love to everyone who bought the record, wrote about it, played it or passed it on.

Some of the independent press response to Moorthodox Psyence.

This was my first album as Akhavelli, made largely on the MPC from vinyl, cassette and VHS, then arranged and mixed through a combination of analogue hardware and the computer.

I knew exactly what kind of record I wanted to make. I didn’t know whether people outside my immediate circle would understand it, but clearly some of them did.

Thank you to Iggy Magazine, RapManiacZ, Indie Rock Mag, The Word Is Bond, Visual Atelier 8, Expansión Radial and Tom Hull for listening properly and taking the record seriously.

The first vinyl pressing is sold out. The digital album remains available through Bandcamp.

The signal broke through before anyone had language for it.

Chicago, 1987.
87 seconds of unauthorized transmission.
No confirmed identity. No explanation. No one ever caught.

Official classification: broadcast intrusion.

Akhavelli archive classification: PRE-DRIFT EVENT // 001

The television wasn't hijacked.

Something came through. by @akhavelli_

ARCHIVE FRAGMENT // 1990

Before the Drift, they still believed the heroes were real.

Two icons. One ring.
The signal survived.

A record can sell out. An archive cannot.

One hundred physical traces of Moorthodox Psyence entered private collections. All are now accounted for.

What follows is the album’s second life.

Over the coming weeks, materials surrounding the record will be released from the archive: witness accounts, protocols, disputed dates and fragments from the history in which it was made.

Those arriving late have not missed the work.

The digital edition remains available through Below System Records on Bandcamp.

File 001 is now open.

The first pressing has disappeared into private hands.

One hundred copies. No repress currently authorised.

Some were bought as records. Others may eventually be understood as evidence.

The archive does not distinguish between collectors and witnesses.

The nine pieces contained on Moorthodox Psyence were assembled from materials with uncertain provenance.

Records remembered differently by different listeners. Voices with no confirmed source. Images detached from their original dates.

Akhavelli’s task was not to resolve these contradictions.

It was to preserve them.

Something happened in 1996.

No surviving account agrees on its cause. What can be established is that memory, recorded culture and chronology stopped moving together.

Some witnesses remember events that never occurred.

Some recordings appear to remember them too.

The period that followed became known as the Drift.

Dhikr means remembrance.

A phrase is repeated until repetition becomes presence. A fragment returns until what was buried can be recognised again.

Within the archive, sampling performs the same operation.

The loop does not merely repeat.

It remembers.

The physical edition is gone.

The nine transmissions remain available in their digital form through Below System Records on Bandcamp.

Access remains open.
