Ishami Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based in the San Francisco Bay Area, blending South Asian and global dance forms with modern storytelling. What happens when sharing gives way to greed?

This piece explores balanced and imbalanced ecosystems, human consumption, and the consequences of taking more than we need. What begins with four bodies sharing a single resource in harmony slowly unravels as one dancer takes more and more, until the resources they fought to possess become a cage.

A reflection on community, power, and the destruction that can come from disrupting the balance.

It started as a handful of chords and a ticking clock, and it kept evolving long after opening night, trimmed here, expanded there, never quite finished. Which is why the show still carries voices it started with, and why one of them, singer and songwriter Zahara, has an Isadora Duncan Award to show for it.
