The Language I Carry is a symbolic self-portrait exploring artistic identity, influence, and cultural memory. Holding a book on figurative African art, the painting reflects the relationship between inspiration, study, and the development of my own visual language.

Keeper of Grace is a symbolic portrait inspired by multiple African cultural traditions, including Ndebele adornment practices and East African hairstyling. The painting explores dignity, femininity, protection, and cultural inheritance through stylized portraiture and restrained symbolism.

The goat functions as both companion and symbol, representing livelihood, care, sacrifice, and survival across many African communities. Held gently yet securely, it reflects the quiet responsibility carried by the figure herself.

Born of the Same Sun explores identity, belonging, and shared humanity through the presence of three young girls, including one with albinism. Across many regions of Africa, balancing objects on the head is a skill learned from childhood and practiced throughout life. It is a rhythm of movement, a form of strength, and a symbol of responsibility. This method of carrying goods reflects remarkable balance, endurance, and discipline, developed through daily necessity. The act is quiet yet powerful, representing resilience, dignity, and the ability to carry both physical and unseen burdens.
This painting honors that tradition and the people who perform it every day.
