I always wondered if Ghibli studio exaggerated when drawing the landscapes of Japan. Turns out it’s as vibrant and peaceful, if not more. I swear the air here turns up the saturation and the green is greening like nowhere else.

So my grocery shopping experience is something like this :)

The AYF fellows have been traveling from Awaji to visit their countries' pavilions at the OSAKA WORLD EXPO 🇯🇵

I was doing some test shots that turned into a self portrait session. I kept postponing capturing this time in my life, but I say it’s important to take photos of yourself at every stage.
Here I am at 28, midway through an interesting and challenging chapter, feeling a lot.

When I look back at younger versions of myself through past self portraits, I realize that many of the things that once felt overwhelming and terrifying don’t mean much to me now. But I do remember the good moments.

So I hope that when I look back at these portraits a year from now, I’ll smile with relief, remembering the best parts of this chapter, all the worries already long gone into oblivion.

Сегодня я тестила пару кадров, и все это переросло в личную фотосессию. Я все хотела, но откладывала запечатлеть этот период своей жизни, я ведь всегда говорю о важности таких портретов на каждом этапе жизни. Тут мне 28, уже прошло больше полугода от этой интересной и непростой главы, и я переполнена чувствами.

Когда я оглядываюсь назад и прохожусь по прошлым автопортретам, я понимаю, что много из того, что казалось всепоглощающим и пугающим, теперь не имеет особого значения. Но я всегда четко помню хорошие моменты.

Поэтому, надеюсь, через год, глядя на эти фотографии, я буду улыбаться с облегчением. Вспоминая лучшее из этой главы моей жизни, все тревоги уже в прошлом, забыты.

Akmaral believes that both art and shared experiences (like cooking) have the power to connect people across cultures. Her vision is to build a global creative community that bridges perspectives between Japan and Central Asia.
