Data centers are not the devil incarnate, I promise. They are a very necessary infrastructure for a future that has already begun. They’re now in our neck of the woods. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be smart about where or how we build them.

On the topic of how we build them:
Every single data center creates a metric shit ton of jobs for almost everything tech/IT, any union or brotherhood you can think of, local contractors and companies, and wouldn’t you know it? They all need tools and supplies too. Sourcing locally first before outsourcing.

The cherry on top: from electricians to steelworkers, and everything in between, data center skilled trade jobs pay on average 32% more than others.

I digress. Yes, there definitely is plenty worth criticizing, but we should talk a little more about what data centers actually make possible, too. There’s a reason we keep building the damn things.

One last personal thought I’ve been mulling over.
Wasting resources on signs printed with “NO DATA CENTERS” is so damned.. well now how do I put this? It’s a kid staring at his lunch going “nuh uh, don’t want it. no!” That is just not an option. We’re not going to yard-sign the future out of existence, folks. by @akmtchll

This is amazing. The best player in Kings history. The most respected player in the NHL. My favorite player. The captain Anze Kopitar took the time to respond and send me back his autograph. This gave me a win when I needed one. by @akmtchll

I started watching Anze Kopitar play as captain for the Kings when I was down and literally couldn’t move before/after hip surgery. But he flew. Because of that, he and the Kings have become near and dear to me. I know they likely can’t beat Colorado in game 4 of the playoffs on Sunday in LA, and it will be Kopitar’s last game before retirement. I’ll be damned if I don’t shed a tear. Sometimes sports transcend testosterone and betting. #nhl @nhl taken in Saint Wendel, Indiana by @akmtchll

People doubted them, but with that last win the Kings are back in the playoffs yet again. Nashville’s season is over. To that city I say goodbye and good riddance. Now Anze Kopitar gets one last go at the Cup before retirement. I wouldn’t have it any other way. taken in Evansville, Indiana by @akmtchll
