The strength and beauty in generations of ladies. My last big trip was to West Africa where I spent four months roaming around small villages. Most of the countries don't speak English so I had to find other ways to communicate which lead to some interesting moments, haha! I spent two nights at the border between Guinea-Bissau and Guinea and stayed with the immigration officers. They shared meals with me, took me out dancing and welcomed me into their village with open arms. It is one of my favorite memories from that trip and I have pictures I am excited to share!

I always wanted a nice camera when I did my massive two year travel but couldn't ever justify getting one. When I got in the car accident a few years ago, I bought myself the camera I had always wanted with some of the money I got from it. I really wanted to focus on portrait photography through West Africa and was able to capture some beautiful moments along the way. I never posted any of my pictures and want to share them now for keepsake and so they don't just get lost in my memory. taken in Guinea-Bissau by @akopca

Five weeks of hitchhiking my way through Georgia and Armenia lead to some sweet memories. I got to run through the wild flowers in the Caucasus Mountains, eat my weight in khinkales, sip on the sweetest Georgian wine, dance to my favorite band at a festival, shoot my first gun, play with the locals in the country wide water fight and meet the kindest of people who opened their hearts (and cars) to me! This country is one of my favorites and I can't wait until the day I get to go back!

I am addicted to traveling. It is how I "chill". I am addicted to trying new things and experiencing new cultures. I am always dreaming of my next destination. Last summer I had the privilege of backpacking through West Africa for four months... which was full of a ton of dancing! What is something you can't get enough of?
People always ask me how I afford to take trips like this and my answer is... I stack my money, lay low and chill.

A lady from the Mursi tribe in Omo Valley, Ethiopia. Worm by single or newly married ladies, these lip plates symbolize eligibility for marriage and fertility. When a Mursi girl reaches the age of puberty, her lip will be cut and bottom front teeth removed by an elder lady in the village and a small wooden stick inserted. Over time, the stick increases in size until reaching up to 12 centimeters! The plates are worn when serving food to men, at special events, at dances and competitions. As the younger generations are wanting to become more "modern", who knows how much longer this tradition will last. The headpiece is made from warthog tusks!

Seeing the Mursi tribe has been on the top of my bucket list for years and I am SO grateful I was able to finally go! It took me two days on a bus and two more days on the back of a motorcycle to get to their village (which is in a national park!), but I made it!

Hamer ladies of Omo Valley, Ethiopia. Their hair styles are so unique to this region. They use red clay to style their hair and everyone does it the exact same way! In the last picture you can see ladies at the market selling the clay powder.

Market day in Omo Valley, Ethiopia is once a week and is a time and place of gathering of people from near and far. Many people wake up in the early hours of the morning to begin their multi-hour long walk to the market. It is a time of community and unity. Watching everyone sit, eat and laugh together was magical. They typically eat raw meat (the dish is called "tibs") on market day as the animals were butchered that day. The people all carry small chairs with them wherever they go, and they are actually comfortable!

A beautiful lady from the Hamar Tribe from Omo Valley, Ethiopia.
I haven't posted many pictures from my last trip to Africa and I want to share them because the people were just so beautiful- both inside and out.
The countries I visited were all so full of traditions and culture. The Hamar people are known for their cattle leaping ceremony that men go through in order to reach adulthood, whereupon young Hamar women get whipped to prove their love for their kinsmen.

I had the privilege of spending four days hiking though the Caucuses in northern Georgia 🇬🇪. I twirled through fields of wild flowers, gazed upon endless snow capped mountains, witnessed a glacier melting in the sun and got to eat some of the best food Georgia had to offer. A group of boys from Australia let me join them for the hike and I had the chance to witness their sweet friendship and create new memories with them. I thought I lost all my pictures from Arizona and Utah (so many national parks) when my phone broke during the car accident. I just got them all back and I am beyond happy. It took many trips to the Apple store and a lot of creative thinking but they are home. This section of America is soooo pretty and I have so many fond memories. I am glad I am able to look back and reminisce on these times once again 📸 ☺️
