Over the last few months, I’ve had the opportunity to work on something that reminded me why I love what I do.

Sunrise in the Sahara by Dinah Wudiri is a Northern Nigerian romance published by Kairos Tablets and Scrolls. My job was to bring that world off the page and into a room full of people.

From the marketing strategy to the event experience, every detail was a deliberate extension of the book’s world.

That’s the work I love most. Not just announcing a thing but making people feel it.

My dad is a living archive. He remembers names, dates, everything. And his library is full of things most people would have thrown away years ago.

I took these old magazines from his shelves and added them to mine. Somewhere between him keeping them and me deciding they deserved space in my own collection, I realized that archiving is really an act of care.

I find old magazines and newspapers ridiculously fascinating.

Imagine how easily these could have ended up in a bin somewhere. And with them, a whole moment in time.

It’s funny how we think history is something distant, when really, it’s just yesterday carefully kept.

That’s why archiving matters.

I recently picked up My Friends by Fredrik Backman, (inspired by @kecyfa ) and I’ve been letting it sit with me slowly, like tea steeping in the quiet of the morning.

There’s something about the way Backman writes, simple, honest, and tender, that makes you slow down, notice the small moments, and think about the people who’ve quietly shaped your life.

One line in particular kept me lingering: “The world is full of miracles, but none greater than how far a young person can be carried by someone else’s belief in them.”

If you’re craving a story that reminds you of the beauty in small, human connections, this book is a gentle nudge. Highly recommend you add it to your reading list for March.

Writing can feel like a lot, even when it’s something you love, like your mind is full, but the page is empty.

So here are the reminders I repeat to myself on the days my nerves get loud:

•Write the things you want to read.

•It’s okay to post your work in multiple places. It deserves room to breathe.

•Remember most of us writers are scared of the same things. Truly.

•Sometimes you write something beautiful and the world stays quiet.

• That silence isn’t a verdict. It’s usually timing, algorithms, life… not your talent.

•Don’t compare your messy draft to someone else’s polished archive.

•Take breaks when your ideas need space.

•And please, be gentle with yourself. You’re not boring. You’re not uncreative.

You’re a writer figuring it out, just like the rest of us.
