We’re excited to share that the Akron Black Artist Guild’s Outlined in Black exhibition has been extended through December 12! Now in its fifth year, the exhibition brings together more than 30 Black artists, highlighting the range of creative voices, perspectives, and practices shaping Northeast Ohio’s cultural landscape. If you haven’t experienced Outlined in Black yet—or want to return for another look—there’s still time to visit.✨ Looking ahead, we’ll kick off the new year by celebrating the final artists of our 2026 cohort, with exhibitions by Artist-in-Residence CJ Carter and Emerging Artist Katelynn M. Rogers opening January 20. More art, artists, and new work coming in 2027. 💜 by @akron_soul_train
Thank you to everyone who came out last week to the McDonough Museum of Art for a special performance featuring our Artist in Residence, Óskar Þór Arngrímsson (Ótal)!
Ótal presented the live premiere of “Fjöður”, a new ambient album created during his Akron Soul Train residency. The performance was accompanied by live videography by Ella Medicus.
Before the performance, Ótal met with the YSU Electronic Music Ensemble to talk about music and his creative process. Afterward, Ella connected with students in the Intro to Digital class to share more about her work and approach.
Thank you again to everyone who came, to the McDonough Museum of Art for hosting, and to Ótal and Ella for sharing their time and creative processes with the students! by @akron_soul_train
Working on some video that I will be playing for @otal________ at the @mcdonough_museum_of_art on the 23rd, organized by @akron_soul_train. Special thanks to @jacobtrombetta ✨ by @akron_soul_train
