Wild eye frisbee guy. With teeth! by @akspecht
Spiced Sweet Potato Bread -- that's a chocolate chip poking through! -- rounded out a much-needed kitchen intensive this weekend. Other projects: spicy pumpkin muffins from an old family recipe, overnight cinnamon roll muffins, a giant vat of salsa verde to dispatch the final tomatillo harvest, a prodigious pan of roasted last-of-the-summer tomatoes, a kettle of charro beans made with most the latter, and on. Tonight we'll have stuffed acorn squash. One foot in summer, one foot in fall. 🍞🍅🫘 by @akspecht

Such a beautiful city. I feel an unusual pull, despite no ties I know of between this place and my German immigrant ancestors. In 1860, German immigrants comprised the majority of Milwaukee's population, making it the most German large city west of Berlin at that time. The spirit of Gemutlichkeit persists. Until next time, Milwaukee. 🍺🦌🇩🇪 by @akspecht
Palace for the people indeed! by @akspecht
Annual mother-dughter road trip no. 7 is finally on track after a 4-hour delay for the Empire Builder out of Union Depot. Ping pong was a good diversion for part of our wait (sorry, no video forthcoming!). Milwaukee, here we come! 🚎🥂❤️ by @akspecht

How better to launch a birthday weekend than with biergarten fare and antique hunting in Stillwater, culminating in the acquisition of a Victor-sized, carved wooden deer? Prost und danke schoen, @gregorygrahamart. 🍺🇩🇪🦌 by @akspecht
