this is just the warm up early group that came last night to the annual memorial. Hamilton asado that marked one year since Mike‘s passing I had prepared a slideshow and a bunch of photos. I had written a lot of things I wanted to say, and share regarding Mike not being here with us but every time I walk through the crowd and try to figure out how to get everyone’s attention to say something I would hear all of my sentiments being being echoed in groups of twos and threes and sevens in 10 throughout the crowds of people who had come and thought they could just stop by for a minute and have a hug and said some tears and say goodbye. But the crowd just kept building and no one wanted to leave and there were a few tears shed, but usually pretty briefly, and there was more laughing and smiles than anyone had expected so I let it just happened organically. Thank you all so much for showing up and thank you for letting me host you and feed you and give back a little bit of of the love and support that I have been shown by all of you that has gotten me through this year. I could feel the energy from a continent away from all the people who wanted to be here, but couldn’t as well I was trying to channel parts of all of you I felt like last night marked a turning point for a lot of people where we can finally come out of the ” Just getting by and trying to survive,”mode That’s so many of Us have been stuck in and move on to not just surviving but thriving. This does not mean getting over anything . Losing Mike is Not some thing I will ever get over. Nor would I want to. I just want to get along with it and move forward, cherishing his memory . I want to see myself, and my friends come back to our true selves even though that will forever be changed by what happened and honor ourselves in Mike by continuing to live the dream that has brought us all together in a way we can be proud of. I love you all so much. I didn’t take any pictures last night because I wanted to be in the moment but if you have any, especially of the Asados and smiling phrases that I can send to friends, please pass them along. Corazon and i just survived a different kind of adventure. He had to get used to only 2 30 minute outings a day, living in a concrete jungle, taking the escalators, elevators, subways, city dog parks and heaps of down time with me while i recovered. Im super grateful for everyone who helped get me thru this and back home in the mountains. by @aksundog76
