We just went to an old refurbished theater over the weekend and watched Kiki's Delivery Service. I love this movie so much! It has all the cozy vibes. The follow up book is now out. Kiki and the New Magic is just as cozy, with more friends, more Jiji, Kiki taking a trip home, and more of her delightful creative energy. 🪄🐈‍⬛🧹

Ok one book on my book tree lol 🤣 Happy Indigenous Peoples Day. I feel like it's fitting that Banned Book week is right before this day. Reading banned books encourages us to read books with view points different than our own. It can help us understand and empathize with groups of people who are different than us.

I can't wait to read Door on the Sea. This is my pick for our November book club locally. Like 15 or more people nah e signed up and I'm stoked!!! The publisher calls this book the Tlingit response to Lord of the Rings. An epic fantasy adventure. Tlingit are one of the Indigenous groups here is Southeast Alaska.

And The Sentence by Louise Erdrich, who is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. It is a funny ghost story that takes place in a book store in Minnesota beginning on All Souls Day.

Happy reading! Let us know on the comments if you have read either of these and what you think.

Banned Books, go read some!!! You can learn so much. Even if you don't like the content, it is an opportunity to learn what is out there. Or to know how someone else thinks or experiences things. It can also validate your own life experiences. Reading is about excercising your freedom of choice.

The book I referenced in the video is called Banned Book Club by Kim Hyun Sook and Ryan Estrada.

Banned book week is Oct 4-10. We should all exercise our right to read whatever we want. This is one of the most important (yet quiet) ways you can promote freedom and education in our country and around the world! What banned books have you read and enjoyed?

Some of my favorites:
Harry Potter
The Handmaid's Tale
1984
The Color Purple
To Kill a Mockingbird
A Court of Thorns and Roses
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

SMH Duolingo, it's like you don't even know me!

What book are you reading this weekend? I started Witch of Wild Things for a book club. It's really good. Lots of nature, yummy food, romance, and a ghost.
