I’m still blown away…
Aku’s BBQ didnt start until February of this year. Road bump after road bump and we’re here today - From leaving a business partnership to getting surprise inspections and leaving my home base.
It takes a village to build and there are so many people that have supported me from day 1.
I know a certain someone is looking down and smiling at what we’ve started.

Thank you everyone for getting AKUSBBQ to where it is today… now let’s keep it going 🤙 by @akusbbq

my favorite part of pop-ups is meeting the owner and hearing the story behind it all. today’s convo with aku was amazing — and the yakitori were unreal. i got pork belly, chicken, chicken gizzard, and the lamb chop. by @akusbbq

It’s been awhile since @noriawines hosted us and I couldn’t be happier to be back! So happy to see our awesome regulars and new faces. We have some fun projects in the works at Noria in Berkeley so stay tuned!

Anyways, getting back into the pop up flow has been pretty fun but we’ve got back to back private events coming up. I’ve missed making prawn toast and yakitori in ya’lls homes 😂

Resuming pop ups in October, catch us around San Jose and Berkeley for our @dtsjbrewing 2nd Thursday and @teance_fine_teas Taiwan Double Ten day party

Will be making some Taiwanese classics, including sticky oil rice (You Fan) and pork blood cake skewers in addition to yakitori 🇹🇼 by @akusbbq

Missing Taiwan more than ever, and the one thing I loved trying there was the negima at the night markets. So I’m doing a bunch of negima today @dtsjbrewing
The way they do it at Raohe was pretty interesting - firing up charcoal and heating a metal barrel, then clipping the skewers on a hook to hang above the heat. It was almost like a tandoori oven.

Anyways
@mcastjr took some dope photos at the last pop up, it was such a vibe. We’re back today again for the same vibes 🤙

If you didn’t know, I’m AKU and I run Aku’s BBQ. I make yakitori and other fun food. Recently it’s mostly been sandwiches and yakitori

Half way through summer and it’s been such a great one!
Mostly crammed with private dinners and helping out good friends. It’s been amazing meeting so many new and old friends, trying new foods,
But ya’ll already know we gotta keep up the pop ups in SJ 😏

It’s 7/11 tomorrow folks, and it is supposed to “warming up” this weekend! ☀️ 👀 So we’ll be your convenient shop from 11-3pm — stroll by!

Your fave agua gals, will have aguas served as pour-overs and bottles, classic flavors and some seasonal!🥤 🍾

Aku’s will be mixing his magic coal with that 🔥 prepping his iconic yakitoris.

Konbini covers you with the bentos 🍱, fan tuan, and all of the Asian snacks you want + more!
