In the early Nineties OQP Okupe were writers and skaters from Marseille, heavily influenced by gangsta rap and dancehall.
“Original Quartier du Panier” , the meaning behind, was a way to pay tribute to their home neighborhood.
In 1993, after a council with the infamous UK crew Spiral Tribe, they suddenly switched the setup to a Roland Tr-808, a Tr-909 and a Korg Electribe.
The following year, equipped with a military truckbus and their first sound system, they started hosting the first wave of free parties in Southern Europe with Metek, Olstad, Outlaw, Ubik, Tomahawk, TMS, Desert Storm and Bedlam.
By 1997, part of the crew came back to Marseille where XTech launched the label Okupe Production, while the rest merged with UK systems Facom Unit and Total Resistance, founding the nomadic tribe Sound Conspiracy, which embarked on a pilgrimage to India.
Meanwhile Okupe Prod. was in business in Europe, anointing rebel engineers such as Fky, Cyberskum, Babylon’Joke, Arobass, Teknambul, and many others.
The golden age of freetekno had just begun and it would soon engulf the continent.

This venue will be a reunion with Olstad, the first Italian Tribe that at the turn of the millennium, shook the system with the first teknivals between France and Italy, as far as Hungary and Canary Islands.
Okupe and Olstad play together again on the same field, consolidating an alliance born almost 30 years ago. taken in Cascina Cappuccina Melegnano - Eureka Coop. Sociale by @aky________
