As a first-generation college student, I remember feeling lost when I first arrived on campus. There were so many things I didn’t know, and I was still learning who I was.Jackson State University has helped me grow into a strong, confident, and independent woman, and I will forever be grateful. While college is full of great memories, there are also challenging days where you have to figure things out on your own. These past four years have shaped me in ways I never imagined, and I am so excited to step into the field of Human Resources.To my parents,Thank you for every sacrifice and for your unwavering support that made my journey at JSU possible. I am so grateful for your wisdom, your encouragement, and every phone call where I could share both good news and hard moments. “Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.” — Maya Angelou ✨ To Thee Vanguard Royals,Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and supporting me every step of the way. This year was not easy, and stepping into this role came with a lot of uncertainty. This journey didn’t start how I expected, but it became something I’ll always be proud of. I worked so hard to make sure that I was being a good example that others could look up to and feel comfortable to talk to.As a big sister, leading and being an example has always meant so much to me. I may do things a little differently, but my goal has always been to make people feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Whether it was through conversations, events, or simply showing up as myself, I wanted to remind others of their worth.Wearing my hair naturally and embracing who I am was very important to me. I hope I was able to show even one person that beauty doesn’t have to be complicated because you are enough just as you are. Serving on this court and representing the senior class has truly been an honor. Thank you to everyone who supported my clothing drives, hygiene drives, and events. Every donation, every conversation, every moment meant more to me than you know.My goal for this experience was to make an impact and bring light wherever I could.
