Selim ben Safia et l’artiste conceptuelle Nadia Kaabi-Linke présentent « Labes » à l’occasion de la 60ème édition du Festival International de Hammamet. Une création qui mêle danse contemporaine, musique live et installation scénographique. Inspiré de la mémoire du quartier maghrébin de Jérusalem, « Labes » fait dialoguer la dabkeh palestinienne et les rythmes tunisiens dans une célébration de la force du collectif.

📣 The DRIFT Open Call for mid-career choreographers is now open!

DRIFT is inviting applications from mid-career choreographers wishing to pursue artistic research within a European context. Ten artists, one from each partner country, will be selected to take part in a program dedicated to experimentation, reflection and professional development. No finalised project is required: DRIFT primarily supports research processes that lay the foundations for future creations.

👉 The call is open to:
• Professional choreographers with a demonstrated track record in contemporary dance or performance
• Mid-career artists — beyond the emerging stage at the national level, but not yet fully established at an international level
• Artists whose practice would benefit from strengthening the research phase of their work
• Artists wishing to develop their presence and connections at a European level
• Artists with a solid interest in experimentation, transnational collaboration, and artistic research
• Artists with a good command of English (working language of the project)

◾️ Each selected artist will benefit from the following support :
• €20,000 earmarked for the research phase
• 3 Online Labs
• Showcase participation
• Artistic and curatorial mentoring
• Professional networking & international visibility

🇹🇳 AL BADIL | LABES

Labes, en arabe, signifie « tout va bien ». 🤍

Sur le son de la viole de gambe jouée en live, cette création de Selim Ben Safia met face à face l'arrêt et la résilience, la disparition et l'élan vital. La pièce célèbre la danse comme force de survie.

Elle s'inspire du Quartier Maghrébin de Jérusalem, détruit en 1967. Dans la scénographie de Nadia Kaabi-Linke, des murs transparents font surgir les fantômes de ce lieu disparu. Portés par la dabké palestinienne, les rythmes tunisiens et les chants funèbres, cinq corps oscillent entre ce qui se fige et ce qui résiste.

Une ode aux liens humains, à la joie et à la capacité de danser malgré les ruines.

DRIFT Artists : Moayed Elghazouani
Host Partner → Al Badil 🇹🇳

Moayed Elghazouani is a Tunisian performer and physical theatre maker whose work blends dance, theatre, and sound into multidisciplinary aesthetic forms. Driven by a desire to speak truth, his practice moves beyond conventional artistic boundaries. Trained in theatre and movement, he has contributed to a wide range of performance projects across Tunisia, Denmark, and Italy, while simultaneously engaging in theoretical research in cultural studies. His work investigates themes of transformation, survival, and the politics of visibility. His recent piece, Rouheb, received the Best Scenography Award in the Creative Seasons program organized by the Tunisian National Theatre in 2023.

Moayed Elghazouani is one of the artists in Wave 1, and he is hosted by @al_badil_.

DRIFT Partners : Al Badil 🇹🇳

Al Badil – L’alternative culturelle is a Tunisian organization founded in 2017 by artist Selim Ben Safia. It works to develop the national cultural landscape through youth empowerment, support for artists, and cultural decentralization.

Believing that culture is a driver of development and expression, the organization creates platforms for training, performance, and mentorship to energize cultural spaces across Tunisia.

Among its flagship projects is Hors-Lits (2014–2022), an international program that presents performances in unconventional venues, bringing artists and audiences closer together while revitalizing urban spaces.

Al Badil also organizes the Festival des Premières Chorégraphiques, which has become a national reference for discovering emerging talent in contemporary dance. The festival encourages exchanges between Tunisian artists, members of the diaspora, and Mediterranean partners.
