Toronto City Councillor Candidate for Ward 1.
Running because Etobicoke North has waited long enough.

POSTS STORIES REELS

There's so much city council can do for you, but it's not surprising people think government can't positively impact their lives. The truth is we just haven't someone who really represents us. I'm going to change that. Election day is this Monday, October 26! Etobicoke North I'll see you at the polls.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of introducing Mayor @oliviachow to the Dixon Road community. One of the many resilient neighborhoods of Etobicoke North, the residents here deserve to feel safe, have more reliable transit, landlords that are held accountable, local development that brings good paying jobs, and more than anything - to be heard at City Hall. I'm running for City Councillor to fight for Rexdale's chance to thrive, and so is Mayor Chow. by @alaa4council

Getting upgrades to crumbling facilities, and access to community spaces that are safe shouldn't depend on your income or your postal code.

Over the last few months, I had the honour of bringing the voices of Etobicoke North to Toronto's main stage. This election campaign we made a lot of noise, about the very issues I'd been hearing about from residents in this ward for years. The people of Etobicoke North deserve more transit options, that are faster and reliable. They deserve crackdowns on bad landlords, repairs to crumbling apartment buildings and community centers. They deserve to feel safe, have real opportunities and good paying jobs for young people, not just more policing. And they deserve not to be struggling in the most expensive city in the country, while the current City Councillor sits at home and collects a paycheck.

Although we didn't win this time, we rewrote the story of Etobicoke North. We nearly doubled voter turnout amongst communities that almost never vote.

I could not be prouder of what was achieved in our campaign, and our community that showed up in force, volunteering their time to fight for Etobicoke North's future. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love, laughs, stories, late nights, early mornings and endless energy.

We're just getting started.

Yours,

Ala'a by @alaa4council

Etobicoke North has historically low voter turnout because the residents here don’t think Toronto politics can make their lives better.

They don’t think system can work for them because they’ve never seen themselves in an elected representative who fights for their interests.

We can't let this happen again to our community, we deserve real representation. Come out and VOTE this Monday, October 26th to change the story in Etobicoke North.

Thank you to Patrick and the Globe and Mail for spending some time with me in our community. by @alaa4council

When kids aren't hungry at school, they can become the responsible and empowered leaders of tomorrow. That's why the Toronto Student Nutrition Program is so important, and your City Councillor shouldn't be voting against it. When I get to City Hall, I'll push to expand school meals in Etobicoke North, not take them away.

Etobicoke North would be well served by Ala’a Adib as their local City Councillor. She knows her neighbours, genuinely reflects the community, understands their priorities, and is ready to get results.

Ala’a is an inspiring local advocate who already works hard to make Etobicoke North affordable, healthy and safe.

It was a pleasure to visit with Ala’a to learn more about what’s important to her community. by @alaa4council
