Dewdrop is one of the most demanding roles in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®, with fast, sweeping choreography that asks for stamina from the first entrance to the last.🌸

Nutcracker season is the most physically demanding stretch of our year, with weeks of long rehearsal days followed by ten performances in December. Physical therapy is a key part of how our dancers stay strong and healthy through it all.

The Pointe Shoe Society is a giving circle supporting the everyday needs that keep our dancers dancing: shoes, physical therapy, costume repair, and more. Every gift, at every level, goes directly toward the fund that makes this possible.

Nutcracker season is now officially upon us 🩰

With American Portraits behind us, the company is in the studio preparing for George Balanchine's The Nutcracker®, our largest run of the year. Across ten performances, the production calls on the full company, from the corps de ballet to soloist and principal roles, and much of that work happens on pointe. Each dancer will go through many pairs of pointe shoes between the first rehearsal and the final curtain.

The Pointe Shoe Society is a giving circle supporting the everyday needs that keep our dancers dancing: shoes, physical therapy, costume repair, and more. Every gift, at every level, goes directly toward the fund that makes this possible. A single pair of pointe shoes costs $120, and over a season our dancers go through about 625 pairs.
