drew this a couple of weeks ago, not tied to Ribbonhalo or any overarching story, just an abstract piece I made to try and get ne me out of my creative block. it’s loosely based on generational trauma and Exodus 20:5. still in an art block but trying hard to get out, might post some sketches later this month :P

[Yallush, The Serpent]
Gods are cursed with a constant state of growth. Every moment of every day their bodies gain more and more mass, and this neverending process is incredibly painful. Every second is ten times more painful than the last. To ease this suffering, gods expel energy by creating life and land. Thousands of years ago, the god know as Ark was born. Ark suffered from this same incurable condition, but instead of creation it instead decided on division. It split itself into four beings: Yallush, Avorite, Krux and Madora. These entities, known as the Four Beasts, would go on to create the Mountains and all of angelkind.
-
Every Beast inherited different characteristics of the deity they used to be, and Yallush was cursed with the bittersweet feeling of yearning. Every single day they would long to be whole again, to reunite with their siblings and become Ark once more. This feeling drove Yallush to the brink of insanity, and for the safety of everything they loved they sealed themself in a crystalline cocoon to enter a state of eternal rest. Atop the inverted base of the Pinnacle rests our comatose god, hoping to never wake up. For the awakening of the Serpent may just be the death of us all.
-
This is the main antagonist of my story Ribbonhalo! They’re a massive snake made of thousands of smaller snakes. Though they’re the key antagonist they aren’t evil, more just sad and pained and don’t know how to deal with reality properly. The main character of the story, Cerula, seeks to kill the gods of her world and Yallush will be the last deity she confronts in her journey. I’ve been working really hard on this piece and I’m really happy with how it turned out!! The second pic is some doodles that show off the symbol on Yallush’s necklace, and the third pic is the original sketch from last year. Hoping to post more Ribbonhalo content as I flesh my world out more and make more art (: much love!!🤍
