Three days. Three weeks. Three months. 🐶

If you know the 3–3–3 philosophy, you know this moment matters. It’s a gentle guideline for rescue dogs adjusting to a new home. The first three days are for decompression, everything is new and they’re just trying to feel safe. The first three weeks are when routines begin to form and personality starts to peek through. The first three months are when trust settles in, when they finally understand: this is home 🏠

So, now that it’s been three months since this little soul came into my life, it feels like the right time to officially introduce Oakland to the world 🐾

Oakland’s story started before we found each other. His parents were abandoned, and his mama was pregnant at the time. After she was rescued, she gave birth and Oakland was one of the lucky ones who survived.

I had been searching for months, waiting to find my furry friend that felt right. Then, on my birthday, his photo popped up. No overthinking. No hesitation. It was kismet.

He’s now almost 9 months old — all fur, curiosity, and heart — still growing into himself in every way.

While his favorite things are his bed and his momma, in true Taurus fashion he’s deeply committed to luxury and comfort.
He lives for soft surfaces, quality lounging, balls of all kinds, cheese and peanut butter snackies, and, perhaps most iconically as a shy and certified sad boy™, people watching at the airport ✈️

His name is an homage to two things close to my heart:
🌳 my favorite tree, the Oak, reflected in his coloring and steady presence
📍 and one of my favorite places, land once rich with oak trees long before colonization

In just three months, he’s taught me more than I expected.

Patience.
How to pause.
What actually deserves my energy and what doesn’t.

So now that you’ve met him…any guesses on what his breed might be? 🤎🐶🌳

Strong opinions, loosely held 🤲🏽

If you’ve ever been in one of my classes or have worked with me, you’ve probably heard me say that phrase 74728 times. In a time in which we could all benefit from a little more curiosity about ourselves and others, I believe it’s important to have both conviction in our beliefs AND willingness to change them if and when we’re presented with new context, perspectives and information.
