Our friends from @alai.coffee will be popping up at our Birthday Party this Sunday from 11-4 in Abbotsford!

Alai Coffee (pronounced ah-lay) means “waves” in Tamil. Based in Vancouver, Alai Coffee is a South Asian, queer women-owned micro-roaster dedicated to bold flavours, intentional sourcing, and transparency from farm to cup! They roast in small batches, partnering directly with farms across India to ensure every bean is traceable, ethical, and fresh.

We first tried their Banana Latte (with homemade banana syrup 👀✨) at a pop-up last year, and the dream of a collab was planted! We’re super excited to have them join the Birthday festivities - and are extra hyped for the Affogato’s they’ll be helping us serve up in the park! 🧡

When we started Alai Coffee, our dream was to put Indian origin coffee on the map. 🇮🇳

🏆Being recognised with Silver at the US & Canada @globalcoffeeawards 2025 for our Flat White – Alternative Milk (Single Origin, Traditional Processing Method) feels like a meaningful step in that journey.

🫘Our winning coffee, Alai Tide, comes from @madhu_agro_plantations in Koraput, Odisha. It is grown by Raji Reddy and her mother, who lead an all-women team farming under native shade trees with care, patience, and purpose. 🌿

This recognition belongs to them, to every grower shaping the future of Indian coffee, and to our community here in Vancouver and beyond who believe in small-batch, origin-driven, women-led coffee.

India’s coffee story is rising, and we’re honoured to be part of the wave. 🌊 Grateful for our cafe partners for brewing, retailing and believing in our beans 🤩

New swirl: Elaichi Wali Kaapi ☕️

You might not think to put cardamom in coffee, but in India, anything is possible. This flavour pays homage to the elaichi wali coffee found across the south.

We’ve swirled our classic cardamom-infused base with a bold 90:10 coffee-chicory blend from our friends at @alai.coffee , to create a unique coffee flavoured combo that’s aromatic, creamy, and deeply nostalgic.

Nouvelle saveur: Elaichi Wali Kaapi ☕️

On ne penserait pas à mettre de la cardamome dans son café… mais en Inde, tout est possible! Cette saveur rend hommage à la fameuse elaichi wali coffee qu’on retrouve un peu partout dans le sud du pays.

On a combiné notre base classique infusée à la cardamome avec un mélange audacieux de café et chicorée (90:10) de nos amis chez @alai.coffee , pour créer une fusion café unique en son genre.

I flew to Coorg for this coffee ☕️🌱

Not just to source it, but to build it together.

Walking the estate, learning from Ashish @skia_coffee_ and his land, and roasting side by side is where real coffee partnership begins for Alai.
