A tough 6 months but going into the studio to paint this colourful Aussie Icon has lifted my spirits. As you can see at the beginning, sometimes the need to get a painting started can happen in the middle of the night, hence the pjs! Wanted to share my portrait painting practice. All painted with finest oils and palette knife. #dameedna #portrait #portraitpainting #artist #creative #creativity #artistsoninstagram taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @alanaohern

Holding Alana O’Herns first solo exhibition @kimsspacehampton was an absolute honour! 13 out of 26 pieces sold!! Not only is she an incredibly talented Artist, but a genuinely beautiful, beautiful person! She gifted FRIDA to me, which is one of the most special gifts I’ve ever received in my life! This is her in my home… it’s like she was painted just for this spot. I absolutely love her and will forever be grateful to @alanaohern A daily reminder to be strong, confident, courageous and having nothing but love for ourselves and others 🤍 #baysidecommunityhub #baysidemelbourne #melbourneartists #baysidecommunity by @alanaohern

I need your help with this one please!! "Sophie" was a beautiful new barista that had arrived at our favourite cafe in Mt Lawley way back in 2008. She had the most beautiful porcelin skin and big blue eyes and she was the very first person I asked if I could take her photo to paint her. This was before I even felt like a professional artist. "Sophie" has followed me on my many moves around the world and her canvas has had a few knocks so I'm starting to repair her. I'm wondering though, do I repair her to her former self or add a little "pop" of colour that is my world now. Thoughts? I'd love to hear what you think. #portraitartist #artist #oilpainting #cafe taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @alanaohern

I’m absolutely blown away by the support we received from our two opening nights of my new exhibition ‘Yin/Yang and everything in-between’ - showing at @kimsspacehampton until June 30th. ☯️

Thank you to everyone who came out and welcomed this collection into its new home for the next two months, your support means everything!

Wife brag post here 😊 It’s been an amazing couple of nights opening @alanaohern @alanafineart exhibition
“Yin/Yang and everything in between “
here in Melbourne.

Alana continually amazes me with her ability to create a wide range of pieces. She doesn’t pigeonhole herself to one style, instead instinctively creating what inspires her in the moment.

Alana’s collection is at ‘Kim’s Space’ @kimsspacehampton until June 30. It’s a fantastic new spot in Bayside Melbourne for artists to showcase their artwork 🖼️ 🎨

Branch out, be messy, make mistakes, explore! The works you create or put in your home should feel freeing and full of life. That’s why I love this painting (Ode to Monet #2) so much - it’s mix of techniques give it so much more character ✨
