It was amazing to paddle at the HK International Dragon Boat Races right in the iconic Victoria Harbour during my first season. A sport I didn’t know I would enjoy so much!

🔥 500m DRAGON BOAT — SCIENCE IN MOTION

Explosive power hits first with the ATP-CP system. That instant launch energy.

Anaerobic glycolysis takes over for the brutal middle. High power with the burn.

For a full 500m, aerobic capacity keeps the boat flying when everything else starts to fade.

The pacers read the team’s collective capacity in real time. They choose the exact cadence and power output so the crew stays in the zone without blowing up early.

The boat caller draws on race experience to deliver concise, clear instructions. Directing power output and timing so the crew stays synchronized.

The steersman reads tides and currents to set the perfect racing angle. Precise adjustments keep drag low so every watt pushes the boat forward.

When pacers, boat caller, steersman and crew lock in perfect sync, the boat becomes unstoppable.

Turns out they understood it before we ever did 💛 🐾

They’ve been teaching us this all along through every cuddle, every silly adventure, every quiet moment on the couch.

How to Wear Your Gi Properly 🥋

Newcomers and kids often struggle with putting the gi on the right way and tying the pants .

Here’s a quick, simple breakdown so you walk onto the mats looking sharp and feeling ready:

A well-worn gi isn’t just about looking neat — it stays in place during rolls, feels better, and shows respect for the art.

Who’s trying this next class? 🥋 by @alanbeasty

The other day we dropped a video on pulling and wrestling up to take the opponent down.

Today we’re breaking down how to actually execute the position.

Sometimes setting up a clean takedown from standing can be tough, so we mix up our offense.

We make it look like we’re pulling… but really we’re hunting that quick takedown to score the two points.

Check it out and stay tuned for more content. by @alanbeasty
