August is festival time in Edinburgh. Hundreds of thousands of visitors converge on the city to soak up the festival vibes! This is a view from Calton Hill looking towards Princes Street a couple of years ago. My train home was due, but the hill was a better place to wait than a busy railway station for sure!

Three years ago today, I arrived at Elgol, a tiny village on the west coast of Skye. This was the view from the picturesque little harbour at dusk. The brooding clouds seemed ready to engulf the jagged outlines of the Black Cuillin mountains in the distance!

Blue hour at Aberdeen beach. Now that we’re into August, there’s no need to get up quite so early to see it!
.
It’s also another year around the sun! Looking back, I seem to have spent a lot of time on beaches along the Aberdeenshire coastline, but being by the sea is definitely therapeutic! Looking ahead, I’d love to travel a bit more. I lived and worked in Singapore for a few years, so it would be great to go back, see how it’s changed, and catch up with old friends and colleagues too. There would also be lots of photo opportunities in South East Asia for sure!

Decided to jump in the car and go for a drive this morning. Ended up in Braemar, a picturesque highland village in west Aberdeenshire. This is the River Clunie (which cuts through the village) sparkling in the sun today ☀️🌿💙✨ Sometimes it’s nice not to have a specific plan, just take it as it comes! 😄

This is a view of the Glenfinnan monument and Loch Shiel beyond. Most of Scotland is verdant green at this time of year, but a sunny day is a bonus! The area is well known for its place in Jacobite history, its Harry Potter connections, or simply for its natural beauty! Travelling due west, beyond the Scottish islands and across the Atlantic Ocean, the first landfall would be Newfoundland in Canada.
