Behind the scenes: a Raja Ravi Varma inspired Marathi maternity shoot 🌸 A few months ago, I got to create a look straight out of a Raja Ravi Varma painting for a mom-to-be, and I never shared how it came together. For this collaborative shoot, I wanted her to look glowy, classic, and regal. I created soft, radiant skin, timeless hair, and a polished makeup look that let her natural glow be the star. Then I draped her in a gorgeous paithani from local sari brand @thumri.paithani.usa to bring together a regal Marathi look. Maternity is such a special season, and a look this classic makes it unforgettable. 📍 Want hair, makeup, and sari draping for your own shoot, festive event, puja, or wedding? Drapes of Dasara | Day 9: Tamil Iyer Madisar 🪔 Day 9 takes us to Tamil Nadu for the madisar, the traditional 9 yard drape of Tamil Brahmin communities. Today I’m showing the Iyer style, which has its own way of pleating and tucking that sets it apart from the Iyer madisar. It is traditionally worn by married women for weddings, pujas, and important family ceremonies, and it is a beautiful reminder that even within one region, every community has its own way of wearing a sari. Follow along, because tomorrow is the final day.
