Yo!

My name is Alan Cortes. I’m a tattoo apprentice and you can usually find me behind the counter at Capitol City Tattoo in Madison, WI. I’ve been apprenticing for about 5 months now, working toward mastering and specializing in traditional tattooing.

These past few months have been a huge learning experience. I’ve been soaking up as much knowledge as I can about tattooing, drawing, painting, and the history behind the craft. Most days you can find me drawing, painting flash, cleaning up the shop, or just trying to learn something new.

I’m originally from Whitewater, WI, a small college town about 45 minutes south of Madison, but I’ve been calling Madison home since 2023. Outside of tattooing, I love going to shows, playing drums, finding new music, and kicking it with homies.

I’m still pretty early in this journey, but I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported me, taught me something, or lets me put some ink on them along the way.

If you made it this far, thanks for sticking around. I hope you’ll keep kicking it with me as I keep learning, growing, and figuring this tattoo thing out. 🤝
