9 tips to make you a portrait photo pro.  These simple tips will make you snaps look as if they should be on the cover of Vogue!  📸 Always use portrait mode.  The easiest win of all. Portrait mode makes everything look better. 📸 It's all about the eyes. Always focus your portraits on your subjects eyes. Eyedeally (see what I did there?!) the one closest to the lens. 📸 Talk to your subject. Talk to them a lot. I mean incessantly. The more you talk the less time they will have to think about the camera. 📸 Find the best light. Soft natural light makes everyone look delicious. 📸 Find a clean, clutter free background. Make sure your model doesn’t have a tree growing out of the back of their heads. 📸 Shoot at eye level. ☀️ Get your arse out of bed and catch the Golden Hour! The best lighting for soft, warm, beautiful images doesn't require expensive equipment, it just requires you to get up early! 📸 What: Golden Hour is the period of time just after sunrise and just before sunset. The amount of time varies, but Golden Hour is generally to have a 60 minute window. 📸 How: Plan shoots for the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset. This light is soft, warm, and highly directional, minimising harsh shadows and making you, your model, or your products look gorgeous. 📸 Why: The low angle of the sun during the golden hour produces a diffused, flattering light that adds depth and a warm glow (not always the case in Ireland). 📸When: Use this light for headshots, portraits, or brand storytelling. #Storytelling #PhotoTips #VideoTips by @alanrowlette

“Stories are a communal currency of humanity.” Tahir Shah 🌍 Storytelling is more important now than ever before. 🌎 We are living in an increasingly fractured world, where polarisation of beliefs, mistrust of the ”other” and isolation are the norm. 🌏 I firmly believe that sharing our stories is the only remedy to this. 🌍 Over the next few weeks I want to share some tips and tricks that might help people tell their story. 🌎 You don’t need the best gear to tell the best stories. All you need is the camera in your pocket, your phone. So here we go! The first in what I hope might make a small difference. 📷 Why use burst mode? 📸 Burst mode means you’ll never miss those candid moments. 📷 How to use burst mode: Press and hold the shutter button down (or volume button) to capture a rapid sequence of photos. 💚Watching the news last night and seeing all the vile posts on socials recently here are my two cents. ☘️Ireland has always been a nation shaped by movement, not just by those who arrived, but by those who had to leave. 💚We know, too well, how they were often met with suspicion, with closed doors, with signs that said ‘no blacks, no dogs, no Irish’, or ‘no Irish need apply’. Maybe that’s why immigration matters so much to me. We remember what it felt like to be the outsiders. ☘️Today, people from all over the world are choosing Ireland, bringing skills, ideas, families, and dreams. They’re doing what our own people once did and still do, trying to build a better future. And our country is stronger for it. 💚If Ireland has a superpower, it’s this, we know what it’s like to leave, so we know how important it is to welcome. ☘️Personally, I want to see more blacks, more dogs and more Irish.
