25 years ago today, I ran 3:53.43 for the mile and set the American high school record @preclassic At the time, I thought it was about the race, the training, and the result. Looking back now, I see it more clearly as a gift. A gift from God.

God placed the right people, opportunities, and strengths in my life to make that moment possible. I’m especially grateful for Coach Raczko and my parents, whose belief, guidance, and support helped shape not just that performance, but who I was becoming along the way.

I also want to acknowledge Jim Ryun, whose example gave me something to chase. His legacy showed me what was possible, and his faith and character made an even greater impact. That will transcend any record.

Thank You, Lord, for the gift and grace to experience that moment. Any notoriety that came from that race, I humbly offer back to You. by @alanwebb1

Happy Birthday Gabriella Webb! 7 years old! by @alanwebb1

I have been involved with track and field/cross for 30 years and been blessed with a lot of individual accomplishments and even a few great relays but never was part of a team championship as a coach or athlete. A few runner ups but never the team title. Until today. For the first time in @avemariauniv history, the @amuxc_men men’s team captured the @sunconference Cross Country Championship! This dream wasn’t won overnight. It was forged through years of grit, prayer, and relentless teamwork.
To the men: your unwavering dedication and heart these last four years have been a privilege to witness. To all who supported us—thank you for believing. And above all, Praise be to God for this blessing and the chance to share such joy together.
Go Gyrenes! The journey continues, together and with gratitude. by @alanwebb1

Through the Years with @runjwebb Through the years — the road unwinds, Through hill repeats and steady times. Hand in hand, we’ve found our way, Through moonlit nights and bright new days. You’ve been my pace, my breath, my song, The one who keeps me running strong. Through every storm, through loss and cheer, Your heart has drawn God’s presence near. When life felt long, your faith stood tall, Your quiet strength redeemed it all. Each prayer we’ve shared, each tear, each mile, Has shaped our souls, refined our style. The finish lines, the starts anew, Each one a vow — I run with you. For love’s no sprint, it’s grace in stride, A holy race where hearts abide. Through the years — still side by side, The cross our compass, Christ our guide. No medal gleams like what we’ve done: A life of two, made whole as one. So here’s to paths still yet to trace, To laughter, light, and boundless grace. And when my running days are through — I’ll thank the Lord I ran with you. Happy 15th anniversary. I love you Julia by @alanwebb1

Joanie and Paula did great this morning at the Ave Maria Middle school invitational! Joanie 5th and barfed up her breakfast right at the finish line. She ran tough. Maybe we need to work on nutrition timing? 🤮 by @alanwebb1

Distance running at an all-time high 📈🔥

@alanwebb1 shares his thoughts on how distance running has sky-rocketed in the U.S. and around the world outside of the East African nations.

The American middle-distance running legend joins DyeStat’s @keenangray5 on the latest episode of DyeStat Discussions to talk about the state of American distance running and what his life has been like since transitioning from an athlete to coach.

Entering his fourth season as the head cross country and track and field coach at NAIA @gyrenes in Florida, Webb talks about what the first couple of seasons have offered, developing a program from the ground up, and the expectations for his group moving forward now that he has established a foundation within the program.

As an icon at the high school level, Webb shares his thoughts on how distance running has grown in the U.S. since he graduated high school in the early 2000s. One of Webb’s iconic moments of his prep career was his 3:53.43 mile he ran at the Prefontaine Classic in 2001, besting Jim Ryun’s mark of 3:55.3 for the all-time high school mile. Webb was the first sub-four-minute high school miler since 1967, whereas 26 other high school athletes have gone on to break the barrier since 2001.

Webb shares his thoughts on how American distance running has elevated over the last couple of years, including what he took away from the Paris Olympics, and how the rest of the world has finally caught up to the East African nations, who were the running powers of the sport for the last 60 years.
