I think one of the reasons people don’t completely understand interior design is because they see only what is visible.

They see the beautiful room, the colours, the furniture, the finishes and the aesthetics.

And yes, that’s part of it. But interior design is not a straight line, and it certainly isn’t just an art field.

It pulls from science, technology, psychology, sociology, and several other areas of knowledge to create one experience: the experience of being in a space.

A space can affect your mood. Your behaviour. Your productivity. Your relationships. Your rest. Even your sense of peace.

That is why I often say interior design is much deeper than beauty.

We are not just designing spaces. We are designing environments for human beings to live in.

The first picture is a striking resemblance of my mum when she was younger.

Well, I'm my mother's daughter.

This thing with sofa sets or armchairs are really beginning to border my eyes.🤦🏾‍♀️

"One of the most important purposes of a sofa set and armchairs are to provide COMFORTABLE seating." - Google Chrome

"A sofa or armchair is generally considered truly comfortable if someone can sit on it for 2 to 3 hours continuously." - Google

I think these two paragraphs with information from google buttress what I mean.

I just found this video of one of our classes from 2023 on my laptop, and it took me right back. 🥹 That year, we had an online set, so I had to record while teaching and engaging with those joining virtually.

And watching it again reminded me of something: Project Scope is actually a LOT of work.

At Jedacox Interior Academy, we don’t teach from imaginary scenarios or random examples from the internet. We teach from real project experiences, using actual documents we’ve prepared and submitted to clients, with their identities removed.

So when we teach Project Scope, Documentation, Client Management and Site Processes, you’re not just learning theory. You’re seeing how it works in the real world.

Because interior design education should teach you not just what to know, but how to actually do it. It’s not imaginary in any way.

Yesterday, I made a little more emphasis on the difference between dislike and hate, and I said I was going to explain it in a video.

In this video, I used an imaginary couple to explain how those two comparisons that may seem like nothing can actually be a huge game changer in the design process.

Every detail in the brief (both said and unsaid) is so important.

As a Space Therapist, my job isn’t just to make a space beautiful. It’s to create a space where everyone feels seen, understood and at home.

Need more breakdown on the other aspects of the brief I mentioned? Let me know in the comments. 👇🏽

I said something in my uploaded video about a difference between dislike and hate.
It's so important when it comes to working on spaces with spouses.

As an interior designer, I have to mediate between spouses. It's such a beautiful and hard task at the same time.

I would try to explain in a video because typing epistles is not my thing anymore.

Are you an aspiring interior designer? Have registered for free class yet?
