Honoured to be part of 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘞𝘦, curated with deep care by @albarnoor and @hyuwnoo.l . This exhibition holds space for fragile connections and quiet dissonances where empathy doesn’t demand understanding, and difference isn’t something to resolve, but something to stay with. Big thanks to everyone who came by, had a look, shared a moment, or helped along the way. So glad to be part of this gentle gathering:) @aschandbagfactory @batoulian lovely shoot🫶🏻 by @albarnoor
Dear friends in Lima, today opens the exhibition at the Museo Amano ( @museoamano ) where I’m presenting “Paisaje Abrasador, Lliclla” together with a fenomenal selection of artists exhibiting about the Traditional Lliclla. Part of the collected money will be donated to communities in the highlands of Peru Kusimayo Peru ( @kusimayoperu ). Thank you Laura Fantozzi ( @fantozzilaura ) for selecting my work. I leave a special text about this landscape of lliclla by Noor Albar ( @albarnoor ) who has been by my side during this year at RCA. We both came from far away countries but with so many similarities specially understanding landscape as home. Proximity is a subjective experience, as Alessandra Risi moves farther from her home in Peru, she paradoxically feels closer to it. The nuances of a home are not confined to a single place, rather can be traced in our cultural heritage, down to the simple act of wrapping. Paisaje abrasador, Lliclla (Scorching landscape, Lliclla) is inspired by the hand woven garment worn by Quechua women of the Andes. A material that – like the layered tides of the sea – carries a story with every color, symbol and stitch. In her painting, Risi reflects on the landscapes of home, imagining what it might feel like to be embraced by the majestic Seven Colored Mountain. Like a mother wrapping her child, or woman swaddling food to keep it warm, this work envelopes the mountain with tenderness. The painting conceals a mountain but reveals the delicate presence of warmth and familiarity. Bringing to the foreground the sensation of an intimate embrace, Risi wraps the mountain in a garment that is both delicate and enduring. In doing so, reminding herself – and us – that if we look closely enough, home can be found everywhere. Like the Ch’ukay stitch that joins two pieces of fabric to form the Lliclla, this work ties together the duality of Risi’s reality – living far from Peru, yet constantly encountering its echoes. #lliclla #museoamano #textilelanguage #peru #royalcollegeofart by @albarnoor
What does it mean to love a city? How does human memory shape our perception of architecture? If the buildings of Jeddah’s 1970s could speak, what would they tell us? Between nostalgia for the past and living in the present there is a lot to feel and much more to say. To carry history into the future is a heavy responsibility, but to carry it with grace is a choice, one that we may continue to pass on. Reflections inspired by “Where Time Settles”, an exhibition curated and sponsored by Jeddah Architecture, hosted by MNWR Forum at Hafez Gallery, Jeddah. On view until 10th of October, with public programmes running throughout. The desert commands your attention and energy once you are faced with its timeless, wise presence, a feeling @emma_witter_ experienced first hand during her trip to The Edge of the World in Saudi Arabia, and one I explored in writing. 📸 Edge of The World, Saudi Arabia by Emma Witter, 2026. #timeandspace #desert #edgeoftheworld #contemporaryarts #saudiarabia 🔗 Visit the link in bio to read the full piece and its mirror poem by the wonderful @lauren_thomas_poems 📸 Portrait of Emma by Batoul Albar, at Provisional We exhibition, London, 2025. 📸 Video of Emma showing her magical bone dust — the moment time was recognized as a material in her artistic practice. 📸 Fish bone clouds, captured in @lauren_thomas_poems mirror poem and photographed by her. 📸 ‘Bone Dust, Lilies’ by Emma Witter with Asiko Artist, 2019. Sometimes you think you’ve said it all, only to find that everything you said was translated into un-meaning — that as you spoke, and spoke, and spoke, there was between you and the listener frosted glass, or maybe the listener was an oppressor, veiling your own thought and voice from you, until your words dissolve into mere illusions. But other times, with the right soul (a soul like @mnzlee), every word or thought strikes like a stone into still water — multiplying, redoubling, sending its beautiful trace to the far end of a long river. Then whoever finds it, finds it, and takes that trace and spreads it as far as the eye can see. - Image features a quote from the book An Imaginary Place Called Home by Leena. Back in July, @maisongb was invited by @albarnoor and @hyuwnoo.l to create an edible tablescape in response to the group show Provisional We at @aschandbagfactory. The project explored three themes: Temporality, fragility, and incompleteness Conditional belonging and fragmented togetherness Reimagining materiality and sensory experience The result was a configurable mosaic of more than 500 bites and coffee cups — each one a reference to a specific artwork or a blend of several. The overall composition continuously transformed as guests ate. First made in series First exhibited And first sold This is the start of the digital rabbit hole my works runs through today. A lot of firsts attached to this art work which was recently collected by the wonderful and incredibly talented curator and friend @albarnoor As the RCA comes to an end this significant moment is a conjunction of a start and an end and a testament of life's repetitive rythms. Rest of the works in the following slides are also up for sale. If you want to be part of a moment in my life, drop me a message :) #artist #contemporaryart #artdirection #curation #contemporary #londonartist #artschool by @albarnoor
