“Unfiltered” A photography exhibition by Alan Chapman Curated by Lee SharrockFor more than three decades, photographer Alan Chapman has moved effortlessly behind the velvet rope, capturing some of the most recognisable figures in music, film, fashion and art. Shot long before the era of curated feeds, PR control and digital filters, his striking black-and-white portraits reveal cultural icons with rare immediacy — instinctive, spontaneous and unmistakably human.Presented at Cramer Street Gallery in London and thoughtfully curated by Lee Sharrock, Unfiltered brings together a powerful selection of photographs spanning Chapman’s career documenting moments of charisma, vulnerability and rock ’n’ roll spirit.On International Women’s Day, the exhibition takes on added resonance. Chapman’s archive includes an extraordinary constellation of women whose presence has shaped modern culture — from the timeless elegance of Sophia Loren to the magnetic energy of Amy Winehouse, the enduring influence of Kate Moss, and the fearless reinvention of Madonna and Lady Gaga.Stepping into the gallery, one portrait immediately drew me in.Sophia Loren — poised, self-possessed and unmistakably powerful.
