I recorded an unboxing video of these books and then never edited it. So I’ve just been sitting on pics of my April/May Arcane Society subscription books for months 🫣 I’ve decided to just post them because why am I avoiding posting just because I don’t want to edit a video?

Anyway, here are the Arcane Society’s editions of Blood of Hercules and Bonds of Hercules. I haven’t read either, nor have I read anything by Jasmine Mas, so I’m looking forward to it! I love the use of classic Roman motifs and the character art is spectacular as always.

I’ve been super MIA the last month and I know it. Doomscrolling is taking up so much time I’m trying to stay off social media, and I’ve had no motivation for editing posts lol. Sooner or later I’ll post the videos unboxing my Arcane Society subscriptions.

In the meantime here’s one of my favorite little corners! Featuring the majority of Throne of glass, some new Halloween decor, and a mushroom incense holder I made myself :) by @alchemistlibrary

The beginning of August made me realize I actually never posted my June wrap up 😬🙈. So here’s what I’ve read in June and July!! I need to go through and do some reviews because clearly I’ve been slacking lol

I read fewer books in June and July than usual, but I blame ToG. I was listening to them on my runs and my mind was so on Heir of Fire I couldn’t get into any of my other books (first time reading and it was 🔥🔥🔥). Hence why I bought physical copies when I finished Heir of Fire and found out I couldn’t keep listening without audible 😒 The good thing about physical copies is that I can read as fast as I want, so Queen of Shadows and Empire of Storms were completed back to back in one day each.

The Poison Daughter was another highlight of July. So So So So good! Definitely pick it up if you haven’t yet! It being a standalone makes it even better.

What was your favorite book this month?

What are you looking forward to reading most in August? (I’m looking forward to finally getting my hands on Tower of Dawn and Kingdom of Ash ASAP👀)

How are you coping with the end of the World Cup and Love Island? (It was an adjustment period for sure 😭)

After listening to Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, and Heir of Fire through Libby and realizing I wouldn’t be able to listen to the rest without audible, I went hunting for physical copies. I found theses 6 on FB marketplace for $5/book!!!

Clearly I’m missing 2 books, and the condition could be better, BUT I’m so excited to be able to read Queen of Shadows at the pace I crave. (warp speed ahead!!😂)

After the end of Heir of Fire this series has me in an absolute chokehold. I NEED to read Queen of Shadows ASAP!

I might be hunting for Tower of Dawn and Kingdom of Ash sooner rather than later…. If anyone has a lead of a reasonably priced matching final two books dm me!!

Eeee!! It’s finally here! I can’t believe I was lucky enough to snag one of the PR boxes for Gemma Vale’s debut novel Daughter of the Night!!

I’m so excited to jump into Daughter of the Night and experience the world Gemma’s created. The box was beautifully curated and while I’m upset I wasn’t able to get the incense holder (I already have a bunch of them anyway), I’m absolutely hyped for everything else included. Even the lavender tea that I found when my cats were playing in the box after!

Congratulations @author.gemmavale!! All your hard work has come together and you’ve created something truly amazing! I can’t wait to read Daughter of the Night!

It’s the best month of the year (June obviously)🌼🐝! The beginning of June is always hectic, but this year was even more so. Between my birthday 🎂 and traveling the baptism of my cousin’s son, I’ve finally gotten around to finishing my May wrap up and mini reviews.

May was a big reading month with twelve (12!) books! If I’m being honest most of these were started in April and finished in May. You’ll notice lots of Brynn Weaver; I went on a whole kick clearly, and I fully intend to read more of her books soon.

May also consisted of my first ever ARC (Of Swords and Starlight by Wren Jones) coming out June 11 (two days!!) and totally worth your time!

I think my favorite book of the month was Throne of Glass, but only because I read 90% of Arcana Academy in April so my brain doesn’t see it as a May book. Both are great. Arcana Academy was phenomenal.

I’m already in the middle of 3 books (1 audio, 1 physical, and 1 kindle) this months so here’s looking forward to a lot of good books in June (aka the best month)!

What was your favorite book in May? What book are you most looking forward to reading in June? What’s your favorite month of the year? (if it’s not June you’re wrong, jk jk I still love you)

some pics from my birthday yesterday!

HUGE shoutout to my boyfriend for planning a super fun day AND buying me a book (and a tote 👀) AND being so amazing at claw machines I got 4 new plushies. Thank you for supporting my love of dragons🐉, daggers, and whimsical everything✨🥰

In honor of my birthday, I put together a little stack of some of my favorite physical books. These are books I adore, books that changed other books for me, and a couple that I love for their aesthetics (feel free to guess which one I haven’t read and which I’ve only read half of 🙈)

It was a great way to celebrate another year!

got some new books for my birthday today!! (the dagger was a gift from today too 👀)

I’m so excited to read A Vow in Vengeance especially considering it’s by a Puerto Rican author. Voidwalker was a last minute pick up my partner pointed out. it seems like a mix of sci fi and fantasy, so I can’t wait to get into it by @alchemistlibrary

Better late than never is practically the motto of my whole page at this point 😂 The Last Starborn Seer by Venetia Constantine aka Fairyloot’s March adult box pick! I genuinely Gasped when I opened my box to see this book. It’s absolutely STUNNING. I’m excited to jump into it!

Have you read The Last Starborn Seer yet? Does it need to be moved up my ever growing physical TBR?

I just realized I never posted my April wrap up 🙈 I’m actually just getting worse at these lmaoo

But better late than never, right? (Right?)

I read only 5 books in April. I was definitely in a bit of a slump. I think I started 3-4 books and didn’t finish any of them until a week or two ago. Nothing was hitting the way I wanted them to. Until Project Hail Mary anyway (which I of course read on the last day of April lol).

Best read of the month was easily Project Hail Mary. It’s an absolute sci-fi masterpiece and I’m very upset it’s already out of theaters. The review is already up, if you’re interest in more thoughts!

What was your favorite book in April? How long does it take you to do reading wrap ups finished?

Time for a new review!! Project Hail Mary has been on my list for AGES; after reading The Martian and Artemis years ago (also by Andy Weir, obvi) and loving both of them. With the movie in theaters, I knew I needed to read the book before watching the movie (still haven’t seen it 😭). And it was WORTH IT!

I loved every second of this books. I love the flashbacks, I love how Ryland handled every situation he was in (ok maybe being dragged away crying was embarrassing and cowardly, but SO REAL!), and most of all I LOVE Rocky!

The science was interesting, the problem was both terrifying and cool as fuck, the solution was dope, and the ending? Fucking phenomenal.

An easy 5⭐️ read. Absolutely no notes. If you haven’t read Project Hail Mary yet, put it at the top of your list. I’ll be trying to convince my partner to go to the movies again and hopefully we go before it’s not longer in theaters.

Have you read or seen Project Hail Mary yet? What did you think?
