POSTS STORIES REELS

Growth isn’t always about becoming someone new. Sometimes, it’s about coming home to yourself ✨

Alchemy Embodied explores what it means to become through yoga, psychology and the practice of being in relationship with ourselves.

Through classes, experiences and stories, we’re creating space to notice what’s happening within you, move with intention and build a deeper relationship with yourself and your practice.

Here, we’ll practice together, get curious about the nervous system, explore the philosophy behind the practice, and talk about what happens when we carry what we learn on the mat into the rest of our lives.

Think of this as an introduction. There’s so much more to become 🩵 by @alchemy.embodied

I just realized I never formally introduced myself, so please allow me to now 😌

Hi, I’m Bria Jamani, the instructor and human behind Alchemy Embodied. Here’s 8 things you might care to know about me:

1. I’m a 200-HR certified yoga instructor and have been practicing yoga for about 15 years.

2. I’m born and raised in Brooklyn, so being able to build and teach here is a full circle moment. 🗽

3. I’m currently studying psychology, and especially interested in the relationship between the brain, behavior, embodiment, and our capacity to change.

4. A huge part of my teaching is exploring yoga beyond flexibility - particularly nervous system regulation, body awareness, resilience, and what the practice can teach us about being human.

5. My classes can live on completely opposite ends of the spectrum. I love a slow, intentional stretch to R&B just as much as I love a high energy Power flow with Hip Hop, dance or Afrobeats playing.

6. Music is a very serious part of my class planning! I build playlists around the energy and progression of the practice, not just songs I happen to like.

7. With that being said, please understand that I do not have a favorite artist and my music interests change with my mood. Expect the same with my playlists.

8. And if you care, I’m an Aqua ☀️, Cancer ⬆️, & Pisces 🌙

It’s nice to officially meet you 🩵 by @alchemy.embodied

This time last year, I came back home needing somewhere to feel safe and supported.

I was moving through the end of a difficult chapter while trying to figure out what was next and, somewhere in the middle of all that uncertainty, I kept returning to yoga.

My mat became a place to breathe, to listen, to feel what I had been avoiding and to meet myself without needing to have everything figured out.

As the year progressed, that practice slowly became something bigger. I became fascinated by the idea of “becoming”: the ways we are continually shaped by what we experience, practice, release and choose to carry forward.

That idea became the foundation of Alchemy Embodied.

It also became the visual language you see here. Water ripples and adapts. Stone records time and pressure. Clay holds every impression. Paper tears, folds and changes form. These materials are beautiful to me because they don’t hide the evidence of what has happened to them.

And neither do we.

Alchemy Embodied is where yoga, psychology, embodiment, creativity, and my curiosity about what it means to be human meet.

I’m still becoming. This work will keep becoming too. But after a year of building, learning, teaching, experimenting, and finding my way back to myself, I’m ready to let it be seen.

Welcome to Alchemy Embodied 🩵

Have you ever watched yourself react before you had time to choose?

The text you sent too quickly. The conversation you replayed for hours. The tension you didn’t notice until your body was already exhausted.

Maybe regulation isn’t about becoming calm all the time.

Maybe it’s noticing sooner. Recovering more easily. Feeling what’s happening without immediately becoming consumed by it.

For Vol. 1 of Being Human, we’re looking at how yoga may support the nervous system, and what that could look like once you leave the mat.

What does feeling more regulated look like for you? I’d love to hear about it 🩵

The pause is part of the practice. Yoga gives us repeated opportunities to notice sensations, breath, and any other impulses before deciding what happens next.

Regulation doesn’t mean avoiding your feelings or stopping yourself from being activated. It’s about how effectively we can move through heightened emotions and begin returning to baseline.

Sometimes trying to force yourself to calm down adds another layer of pressure. Breath gives us something physical to work with instead.

Body awareness can turn a whisper into useful information: clenched shoulders, shallow breathing, fatigue, restlessness. The earlier we notice, the more choices we have.

Resilience isn’t becoming unaffected. It’s developing more capacity to experience discomfort without being completely organized around it.

The goal was never permanent calm. Stress is part of being human. The practice is learning how to meet it without losing access to yourself.

Wellness information should be able to show its work. The research informing this volume is listed here for anyone who wants to read beyond this. by @alchemy.embodied

Your Sun A… with a little more personality 🌶️

Same familiar rhythm. A little more heat, a little more play and more opportunities to explore what your body can do today.

Save this one for the next time your usual Sun Salutation A needs a splash of something extra.

I’ve been practicing my headstand lately, which means I’ve also been falling out of my headstand…A lot.

Sometimes I can hold it a little longer. Sometimes I lose my balance almost immediately. Then I reset and try again.

I started thinking about how easy it is to treat the moment I finally hold the pose as proof that the practice is working.

But what about everything happening before that?

The falling. The frustration. Paying attention to what happened. Making an adjustment. Trying again. Slowly becoming more capable of doing something I couldn’t do before.

Maybe a perfect practice isn’t one where I get everything right.

Maybe this is a perfect practice, too. 🌀

Grounding isn’t about making uncertainty disappear. It’s about learning how to stay rooted while life continues to move around you.

A sense of security doesn’t have to come from knowing what happens next. Grounding practices invite us to return to the body, the breath, and the present moment. To find steadiness in what’s available to us right now.

The goal isn’t certainty. Maybe it’s becoming more capable of meeting the uncertainty.

It started with two people on their mats and ended with ten✨

To everyone who joined a class, signed up with the intention to come, shared the series, returned to practice, or simply supported along the way: thank you.

Every bit of support mattered, and I’m so grateful for the community that helped bring this first season to life.

The numbers were special, but the conversations, returning faces, and small moments of connection are what I’ll remember most. 🩵

We’re always becoming…

Who we are is shaped by the way we move, the way we breathe, and the way we meet ourselves every day.

Expand & Embody is an invitation to practice becoming.

Over the next 8 weeks, we’ll gather in parks across New York City to explore movement, breath, and what it means to regulate our nervous systems and reconnect with ourselves. On and off the mat.

Whether you join me once or throughout the entire series, I’d love to practice with you.
