The Buster Sword from FF7 Remake. I would argue this to be my magnum opus of prop work so far.

This sword was scaled to my sizing at just under 6.5 ft tall made out of PLA. I cannot understate how heavy this thing was though to hold up at this sizing 💀 people at Katsucon were swearing that it looked and felt like the actual buster sword which was some of the best praise I have ever received for a prop. This was my second iteration of the buster sword, with another planned attempt coming soon for when I bring it to Otakon this year.

The metallic finish of the blade is something I’m really trying to refine to make it look as realistic as possible, and I think I’m just about there with a new finishing technique I used for my Garen cosplay.

Underneath the materia panels are light strips that are remote controlled to custom set the colors for the materia. For more simple lighting, I also have tested fairy lights to fit in the slots. by @alchemylabsworkshop

Cloud’s pauldron from FF7 remake, made for @nightalize

I looooove me some weathering, so this was such a fun project to work on. I got to use a little bit of all of my weathering tricks on this one, including my favorite rust FX paint.

I made a similar pauldron a few months ago for Jordan out of PLA, but it weighed a ton and was super fragile which is TERRIBLE for cosplay. This revision, I printed it using TPU for the base and PLA for the nuts/bolts; what a difference it made. I think in total this came out to like less than 1-2lbs. I gave it a little durability test just to make sure also 💀 by @alchemylabsworkshop

Zidane’s mage mashers for @nightalize, very fitting since I just started playing FF9.

My favorite part of these is the color shifting paint I used for the pink part of the blades which shifts from a pink to purple hue depending on the light 🤓

Cloud’s Pauldron, made for @nightalize for his FF7 Remake Cloud cosplay.

I find it important to showcase that not everything I make is an immediate slam dunk, and that there’s a lot of failure, testing, and trial & error before I land on a final result that I’m really satisfied with. This is an example of just that.

This was a first test run of the pauldron to see how practical it would be. The biggest issue with printing PLA at times can be its weight, ESPECIALLY with Pauldrons if they’re not really tightly secured.

While I was relatively happy with the finish of the pauldron for 1 days worth of work, I was not happy with the wearability of it since it would be cumbersome and awkward to wear, and if it fell, it was absolutely going to break.

2nd revision to come soon where I’ll be making this out of TPU. by @alchemylabsworkshop

Garen base skin made for yours truly.

This was a project that took MONTHS of planning and work and there’s still a ton that I need to refine. There really is no cosplay reference material to work off of, and Garen has so many different variations of his base skin that it was hard to narrow down the one that I wanted. In the end I decided to go with the look from the 2020 animation.

Every piece was sketched and measured to myself a dozen times over, with each piece probably going through 2-3 attempts/variations before I was relatively happy. In a perfect world, I would like to redo the chest plate to be more accurate with the curvature but maybe in the future.

The only piece that I need to completely redo is the sword, since that was a SUPER last minute 3d print since I wasn’t able to get a foam sword done in time for Katsucon. I also need to get his proper clothes commissioned since these were just sweats that I dyed last minute. Also I left my belt at home for the con on accident so it’s not there in the pictures 😵‍💫
