Miss State of Mississippi 2026

If I’m being completely honest, this was one of the hardest weeks I’ve had in a very long time. There were moments when I had every reason to be distracted, discouraged, hurt, and overwhelmed. There was noise. There was pressure. There were things I never could have predicted walking into this week.

And there were plenty of opportunities to crack.

I didn’t.

I prayed. I worked. I showed up. I kept my head down. I trusted God with the things I couldn’t control, and I reminded myself of something I had written down over and over again:

“You are either building the life you want or building excuses for why you don’t have it.”

So I chose to build.

I chose to keep going when it would have been easier to feel sorry for myself. I chose to prepare when I could have been distracted. I chose to believe that everything happening around me did not get to determine what happened for me.

And tonight, I get to say that choice led me here.

To everyone who expected me to fold under pressure: I hope this serves as a gentle reminder that you should never underestimate a woman who knows exactly who she is, knows Who she belongs to, and has already decided she’s going to keep going.

I don’t need to explain every battle I fought this week.

The crown is enough of an explanation.

To the people who loved me through the ugly parts, prayed for me, checked on me, listened to me, and reminded me who I was when I needed it most: I will never be able to thank you enough.

And above everything, thank You, Lord.

None of this is possible without You. Every door You’ve opened, every setback You’ve turned into a setup, every moment You’ve carried me when I didn’t think I could carry myself, I give You all the glory.

This crown means more to me than I can put into words because I know exactly what it took to get here.

Pressure is a privilege.
Pressure makes diamonds.

And this week?

I found out just how much pressure I can take.

So… what’s next?

Top 10.

I don’t know that I’ll ever have the words for this moment.

When I checked into Miss Mississippi last week, my prayer wasn’t necessarily for a placement. It was simply that I would leave knowing I had been fully, unapologetically Alea. That I had represented USM, Dreams Within Reach, and the people who poured into me well.

And by the grace of God, I got to hear my name called among Miss Mississippi’s Top 10.

The truth is, this accomplishment belongs to so many people.

To my parents, thank you for every sacrifice and every prayer you whispered over me.

To MM, thank you for pushing me and believing in me.

To Daniel, thank you for taking a chance on me and always reminding me that I am more capable than I realize.

To my sweet roomie, thank you for being my safe place through all of this.

To my Sparkle Squad, friends, professors, sponsors, sorority sisters, and every person who donated, sent a text, said a prayer, watched the livestream, or cheered from near and far: thank you.

Because if this experience taught me anything, it’s that dreams rarely come true in a straight line.

I turned in my Miss USM paperwork right before the deadline. I went through trials I didn’t expect and still had to show up for the students counting on me. I faced losses I didn’t understand and doors that didn’t open.

But every disappointment led me here.

Five years ago, I lost my grandmother, my very best friend. Dreams Within Reach exists because of her, and I carried her with me every step of this journey.

This was never just my dream.

It belonged to a village.

A village that raised me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and reminded me who I was when I forgot. I may have been the one wearing the sash, but there were countless hands holding me up along the way.

The little girl from New Albany with big dreams, the JUCO transfer who found a home, the granddaughter learning to live after loss, and the girl who decided to take a chance on herself anyway…

She made Top 10 at Miss Mississippi.

Thank you all for helping me live one of my wildest dreams. And thank You, God, for writing a story far better than anything I could have planned for myself. 💛

I’ve learned that sometimes God doesn’t tell you “no,” He just says “not yet.”

There’ve been a lot of “not yets” in my pageant journey, and now I finally get why. Every delay was direction. Every waiting season was preparation. Because what’s for me will always be for me.

This week? One for the books. Between fighting strep, losing my voice the day before competition, and somehow squeezing in sorority initiation in the middle of it all, it was chaotic, exhausting, and honestly kinda hilarious. But it reminded me that God doesn’t need perfect conditions to move, He just needs your yes.

And how fitting that I turned in my paperwork one hour before the deadline, sitting on the floor of the Kappa Sig house pomping during Homecoming week (yes, really). Only God could take a moment that messy and make it this meaningful.

I wasn’t the most prepared, but I was purposed.

If I’m being real, I didn’t love USM at first. I went home after my first week of classes and cried to my mom, ready to transfer. But now, this school has my whole heart. It’s where God turned every “not yet” into “see, I told you so.”

Becoming the 80th Miss University of Southern Mississippi is living proof that His plan never misses.

To my village: my family, my friends, my sisters, and the one who listened to my spoken word piece a thousand times: thank you for showing up, showing out, and loving me through every second of this.

God’s favor is all over this moment.

See y’all at Miss Mississippi!

and just like that, my first and last recruitment is over. 🥹

when i joined Alpha Delta Pi last september, i had no idea i was walking into a chapter that would change the entire course of my college experience. i could’ve never imagined the friendships, the memories, the late nights, the laughs, and the love that would come from saying yes to ADPi.

getting to experience my final recruitment as a senior and then watch these girls run home was the sweetest full-circle moment.

one of the most exhausting weeks of my life, but without a doubt one of the most rewarding. my heart is so full for our new alphas. welcome home, girls. you are so loved already. 💙

Last one, best one.

This morning, we wrapped up Honeybee activities with the sweetest tea party, and my heart is so full.

These little girls have been absolute angels all week. Their hugs, smiles, laughter, and excitement have been the sweetest reminder of what this organization is all about. Watching them dream big has only strengthened my belief that every child deserves to know their dreams are within reach.

I truly do this for them.

Now, it’s time for finals night on the Miss Mississippi Volunteer stage. Whether tonight is the end of this chapter or the beginning of a new one, I’m walking into it with nothing but gratitude.

Thank you, Lord, for this week. Thank you to the Hub City, for believing in me. And thank you to my Honeybees for reminding me why serving will always be the greatest honor.

Let’s finish strong. #LOBO #allgasnobreaks #dreamswithinreach taken in Ths Performing Arts Center by @alea.hudson
