Mixed Media Textile Sculpture
RipTied explores the fragile space between fracture and reconstruction. Torn canvas, exposed denim, stitched seams, and binding ties create a surface that appears wounded yet refuses collapse. The canvas references bandages and healing, while fragments of denim emerge beneath, revealing traces of lived experience and resilience.
The stitched elements echo surgical intervention, repair, and the visible evidence left behind by healing. Throughout the piece, tears, knots, and exposed edges remain intentionally unresolved, suggesting that restoration is not the erasure of damage, but the integration of it.
Inspired by my experience living with scoliosis, wearing a back brace, and undergoing corrective surgery, RipTied reflects on the body as both archive and architecture [a structure that can be broken, supported, altered, and rebuilt]. It is a meditation on survival, adaptation, and the beauty that exists within repair. by @aleahtrix](https://s9.imginn.com/726606475_18598708300039681_6041087294821874025_n.jpg?t51.82787-15/726606475_18598708300039681_6041087294821874025_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_p828x828_tt6&_nc_cat=107&ig_cache_key=MzkyMzkxODc1NTA5MTc0OTYxNw%3D%3D.3-ccb7-5&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=58cdad&efg=eyJ2ZW5jb2RlX3RhZyI6IkNBUk9VU0VMX0lURU0ueHBpZHMuMTAyMy5zZHIucmVndWxhcl9waG90by5DMiJ9&_nc_ohc=YZlsgERm3fkQ7kNvwGon8-B&_nc_oc=AdpC8nBN5JxSvfLbdTpFmHPy9l-YGnweTMKGpu_QXptwAUlpFsF91p-fC9CGwIvhIz-7XjncqplaQcNBBzKViQrL&_nc_ad=z-m&_nc_cid=0&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-atl3-1.cdninstagram.com&_nc_gid=hRIUzYfwz4vG8ULzYxCF1g&_nc_ss=7a22e&oh=00_AQPTFDU2hNOOTdnsiCceqcm93oVQ9HzoSShhC9sqsrpweQ&oe=6ACA5167)
