January 2024- I was 230 pounds and roughly 40% body fat. I was halfway through my junior year. This hit me hard. Why? Because at the beginning of my junior year I was 185 pounds. 185lbs had been my lowest weight since 6th grade. When I reached that weight I was so happy because I had always struggled with being overweight, ever since elementary school. That joy didn’t last long. What led me back into gaining weight rapidly was overeating everyday and snacking every opportunity I got with a lack of any exercise. I didn’t care what went into my body or how unhealthy it was. I lived by the “I’d rather be fat and happy than starving and sad” moto. But I can’t remember ever being happy with being fat, it’s just what’d I’d tell myself to cope and feel better. I’d do the classic fat person diet. I wouldn’t eat breakfast or lunch because I’m “on a diet”, then of course dinner would come around and I’d crash and eat whatever I wanted. I didn’t track a single macro. I had new stretch marks appearing every place imaginable. I hated myself and how I looked. I steadily stayed in the 225-240lb range up until late 2025.

May 2026- I’m currently 176 pounds and around 18% body fat. Starting In October 2025 I really decided to dial in with my calorie intake, macro tracking, and exercise. I saw older guys around me struggling with their bodies and weight and I didn’t want that to be me. I’m still young and still have time to take control of my body. I started to track everything that I ate, even on cheat days. I track calories in vs calories out for the day and make sure that I’m losing weight at a healthy rate. This was my first time I’ve ever locked into a calorie deficit successfully without giving up two weeks in. Today I’m happy with how I look, even if I’m not at my goal yet. I’ve also learned so much about foods and macros. Now that I’m closing up on my first goal, I’ll have to set a new one. That’s crazy for me to say. I never thought I’d be setting a new goal because I’m reaching my current one. What feels impossible one day is suddenly a reality for me, it just took some time.

I will post here and share my progress as I begin my new goal.

3. Overnight oats is my everyday breakfast. Perfect and easy first meal of the day.
4. YouTube + Walking pad = easy cardio
5. Saber loved going for a walk during the sunset.

Side note- get your steps in, count your calories, and you’ll see change guaranteed. Trust the process. by @alechalleyfit
