#JakalBookshopFestival week has reminded me of why I wanted to do this in the first place—on why I took literature, why I decided to work in a bookshop, why I spent most of my dimes on books rather than anything else.

It reminded me of how much I care. It reminded me of why I had three boxes of encyclopedias growing up, of why I picked up ‘Rectoverso’ by Dee Lestari when I was eight and why I stayed up all night devouring Oscar Wilde & Charles Baudelaire at the age of fifteen.

A book is an ephemeral object that is quite fragile, in fact, but to possess something—a consolation where your thoughts are allowed to roam freely; to wander, to ponder, and to wonder is something I consider as a luxury.

Life is not always perfect—and it must not be.

Sometimes you woke up feeling like your day is going to be surrounded by enough flowers you wouldn’t be able to smell a rotten egg, but sometimes you find yourself waking up to days old clothes under the rugs and empty bottles of cheap wine from a hangout with your girlfriends three nights ago.

Yes, the way you conquer your day matters, but the glasses you pick to perceive things in a way that is more interesting is also as important.

It is the decision that you make on which perspective are you going to take today.

Many people choose to defend their wrath, but there is some kind of magic, some kind of … tenderness in finding ways to remain slow and steady in the midst of a wreckage.

The question is: are you willing to see things through the lightness of views or are you going to let yourself drown in the darkness you cannot even control?

Making list of things and writing it down; memorizing, reflecting, and contemplating on it is very important to me.

These days, it feels easier to find love in the little things (that somehow, means, an awful lot!) and here are the list of things I have been planting my love upon to.

Six of them, six is oftentimes villainized, but in numerology, the number ‘6’ is a wake-up call to realign your path.

To focus on mindfulness, to sit so close to the Earth you started to develop deeper awareness towards the ground that you walked on.

To know that the joy of gratitude can be found anywhere, anytime, within a single glance of your eyes.

To look at the sky—knowing that everything unreachable is always blue, but to be sure to appreciate the fondness in the midst of it all. 🌬️ by @aleeitje
