I was so distressed about Jersey that I didn’t share my photos of Uruguay. I was so taken by Montevideo. My hotel was gorgeous, the food was incredible, and everyone was so nice. This small country impressed me by how European it feels. This is my third South American country and I’m wondering why I waited so long to experience it. On my list now is Chile, Brazil, and I want to go to Patagonia in Argentina. by @aleighdaniel

While I was away in Uruguay, my Jersey, was attacked by a coyote and was injured to the extent she had to be put down. Needless to say, I was devastated. But more important than my distress, is the need to warn everyone.She was in my backyard, in the middle of the day. Along my back fence was wire fencing and apparently it had a place that enabled it to get in. A week or so ago, in the tornadic winds, I had noticed some weakening of the wire fencing on some of the fences, but not this. We don't know what happened, but Jennifer Taylor, who manages the farm, came in and heard her and went out, managed to get her on a stretcher with the help of Scott Perry, who works here, and she took her to our trusted vet, Dr. O’Reilly, at Mccurdy Animal Hospital. Jersey had internal bleeding. We bellieve the other dogs heard a ruckus and ran the coyote off. Poor Jersey was fond of lying out in the grass in the backyard. Often by herself.If you have any kind of animal who stays in the backyard, check it for access points. I walk back there routinely and didn't see it. We are getting more lights, and I'm getting new fencing. But none of it can bring back my girl.I never in a million years thought something could get in and hurt my dogs. I felt they were safe at my house with fences front back, extra locks, caretakers day and night. But it happened.When bad things happen, I've learned to look at what lesson I can learn. I'm hoping that with this post I can save some other pup and dog parent from this pain and torment. by @aleighdaniel

I went a beautiful restaurant, with a 400 year old farm! But only had eyes for the sweet dog. There are stays here running all around but they seem to be taken care of. While at dinner, a cat jumped in my lap! by @aleighdaniel

My newest rescue, Merry, is doing great. It wasn’t fast but she’s settling in with all the others.Rescue is worth every minute it takes to help them become acclimated. And knowing I’m keeping one more animal warm on this cold winters night is priceless. by @aleighdaniel
