In 2012, my father, Alexander Berti @alexbertisoteldo , was hired to orchestrate Rubén Blades’ Maestra Vida, and I had the privilege of being part of the process as a copyist, assistant, and score preparer. We had less than a month to craft around 20 symphonic arrangements—a race against time with a great sense of responsibility.

Beyond the challenge, it was surreal to work on the music of Rubén Blades, whose songs were the soundtrack to every family gathering, every dance, and countless cherished memories. Against all odds, we met the deadline (easier said than done! 😹), and the result was an unforgettable, triumphant performance.

Now, almost 15 years later, these very orchestrations will come to life once again—this time with the @nyphilharmonic New York Philharmonic, under the baton of Maestro Diego Matheuz @dmatheuz , featuring @ruben.blades and two incredible guests: my dear friend and trumpet sister, Ella Brick @ellabricmusic ,and my friend Xito Lovell @xitol07

The performances will take place at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall on Sunday, March 30th, and Monday 31st. A true full-circle moment! taken in David Geffen Hall by @alejandro_berti

Qué maravilla que el disco #despuesdetodo ya salió y que ya todos lo pueden disfrutar!! Fue un placer haberle hecho los arreglos de metales y haber grabado las trompetas para este álbum. “Roberto Quintero’s Latin Jazz Project” What a pleasure and joy was performing last night at the #jazzunderthestars at New Rochelle NY with @robertquintero and his band of giants and good friends. The music was amazing and the energy was positive. Some compositions by Ed Simon and Luis Perdomo, among other composers, that explore some folkloric rhythms of #venezuela and jazz harmony. Thanks to Rocky Middleton for the invitation. And last but not least, to the band!!! Not only I had a wonderful time and good moments with my dad, but also we got to hang out with great friends from LA.
