Last year, I had the pleasure of working on the Adidas Terrex campaign. Very happy to see my work in stores and billboards around the world. It is definitely one of my biggest achievements as a photographer.
Special thanks to @camp.yoshi for trusting me and putting me in the right place at the right time.

Chapter 5

I met God in Brooklyn. He wasn’t a burning bush; He was an old man on a park bench near DUMBO, feeding pigeons with the same gentleness I used to lace my gloves with. He saw me. He shifted, making space for us both.

We sat in the cold for a while.

“You isolated yourself this whole time,” my voice thick but soft through my swollen jaw. “Years in the gym. Years in the ring.
What did I learn?”

He tore a piece of stale crust, tossed it to a gray bird, and wiped his hands on his trousers. “Nothing.”

“Nothing?” I asked, confused.

The anger flared up, hot and familiar. “What was the point of living in solitude? What was the point of taking his name? Of becoming AK so he wouldn’t be forgotten? I bled for him. I took beatings for him. Surely, I bought some kind of wisdom with all that pain?”

God looked at me then.

“You mistake your grief for a lesson,” he said sternly. “You think his death was a riddle you had to solve with violence. You think if you fought hard enough, you’d learn why he left.”

He leaned back, looking up at the Brooklyn Bridge, vast and unmoving.

“But you learned nothing. And that is the mercy of it.”

“How is that mercy?” I choked.

“Because if you learned a lesson, it would mean his death had a purpose. It would mean he died for the sake of your benefit. And that is a terrible narrative to put on a dead boy’s soul.”

The wind along with his words cut through my hoodie.

“You didn’t lose that fight because you were being punished,” God said. “You lost because you had to finally put him down. I let your knees buckle so you’d finally drop the weight that was crushing the life out of you.”

He smiled, a sad, knowing expression. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @alejandro_camera

A few frames from my latest project with Adam Amro ahead of his fight next week. 🥊
Love working on films like this. We get to experiment with different ideas and learn a lot along the way. Always fun to get creative and see what we can come up with.

A Bori Weekend we’ll never forget.

Familia, summer has officially started. The Knicks are champions, the weather showed up, and Puerto Rican flags took over every corner of Nueva York.

This past Sunday, we celebrated who we are and everything our people have contributed to this great city. We danced salsa and reggaetón, waved our flags high, wore our orgullo on our sleeves, and reminded the world exactly who we are.

Gracias to everyone who pulled up, danced their asses off, sang at the top of their lungs, and brought the energy that makes this community so special.

A special thank you to @adidasus and our contributing partners and talent.

@mothersmilk @medallalight

We’ll see you next year.
