Voces desbordadas
Llegan las sílabas como arritmias:
Words overflow the textile, exceeding their sonic materiality to leave another kind of imprint. They spill outward, becoming plural, asynchronous, patterned. Within these layered traces, a palimpsest emerges. Amid the fabric’s transparencies, repetitions flicker into view and vanish again: a voice within a voice, circling the edges of the material. Evanescent, ghostly, these voices come into view and out of view. Tracing the edges of an absent voice, a new cartography becomes expanded.

La tela se convierte en receptora de voces que se des bordan.

My thesis was, and is an ongoing project about my grandmother’s process of losing words. It was a continuous effort of building through fragmentation. A hypertextile was born through retracing scattered pieces across wavelengths and echoes; linking through non-linearity. It is an exploration of the absent. Of remembering a voice, and mapping the grief that comes through tracing it back

Thanks to my wonderful supervisors: Ale Cárdenas (@ale_hophop) and Pedro Oliveira (@pjliveira) for believing in my vision and crazy ideas.

HEXEN - Sonic Ritual & Performance ft Alessandra Denegri (@aledenegri), Marie Polo (@marie_polo_) and Elisa Ibañez (@elisaibanez) Produced by MONOM Liminal | Directed by Alessandra Denegri

Hexen sprouts from the cracks: part sound, part spell, a molten skin of memory. Its shapes and frequencies are conjured, stitched with spider silk and ash; each vibration whispers from the marrow, each instrument an artifact from the dreaming bone of the world. A language without teeth, a door without hinges: an invitation to awaken memory encoded in our DNA, from a time when magical thinking was welcome.
Hexen is an act of resistance: a ritual of sound and vibration calling forth memory.
Here, magic is an ancient interface - a living, immaterial technology that once guided ritual and transformation. Today we invoke it through a new architecture of perception: 4DSOUND, a spatial system that conjures sonic holograms - frequencies moving through space like spirits freed from gravity, shifting how we sense and feel.
Thus emerges the first project by LIMINAL: a space for exploring the crossroads of ritual, ceremonial practices, body technologies, and mind-enhancing tools that expand perception.
HEXEN was composed and spatialized by @4dsound with @aleriosr_ and @williamcolleyrussell

No se va a caer, lo vamos a tirar by Ale Rios (@aleriosr_)
A metal wall rises to suppress a restless tide - bodies pressed together, voices demanding justice. Built to silence, it becomes an instrument of resistance: metal embodied and expanded, struck, sounded, subverted. The barrier falters as our voices amplify within its resonance. From friction comes a chorus - grief and rage suspended in air, weaving a collective rhythm.
Erected to contain protests in Mexico City’s Zócalo on March 8 - International Women’s Day - this barrier becomes the piece’s subject. Composed from field recordings of hands and bodies striking its surface, the work recontextualizes a moment of collective defiance as a raw, poetic soundscape of resistance. It reclaims containment as amplification. In sound, we persist.

Alejandra Rios Ruiz - Voces Desbordas
@aleriosr_

When a voice disappears, new worlds unravel. Rooted in the artist’s personal process of mourning her grandmother’s loss of speech due to aphasia, this work traces the borderlines of a voice —not its content, but its texture, its imprint, its echo. Through a series of embroidered panels and “soft” handmade speakers, voice is not represented but translated: each thread a fragment, each fabric surface a receptive membrane that carries sonic memory into tactile form. These textiles map an unstable cartography of voice and absence — a hypertext(ile) where the memory of a voice is material, resonance, and trace. They become sites of overflow —desbordar— where voice spills beyond audibility and into the felt. What new forms of communication, care, and connection emerge when voice becomes something we carry —not through sound, but through gesture, memory, and touch? by @aleriosr_

Experience the raw resonance of metal turned into ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes, that transform rigid structures into fluid waves of sound.

Through delicate processing, metallic tones shift and dissolve, mirroring the cycles of transformation and rebirth. As the once-solid becomes soft and immersive, we are invited to embrace change, letting sound guide us through a space of renewal, expansion, and blooming into new states of being, in resonance with the external.
