cheerleading has been my life since i can remember. it’s made me the person i am today. it brought me my best friends and everlasting memories i’ll never forget. it brought me coaches who continued to push me to be the best version of myself everyday. this sport has pushed me harder than anything in my life. it has seen me at my best and at my worst. it taught me the true meaning of family and the love i have for all my teammates. the last 18 years of cheerleading were a blessing, and i’d go back and do it all again in a heartbeat.

this sport brought me many new friends, but the people who were there from the beginning are my parents. i cannot thank you both enough for your constant love and support. thank you for always believing in me and my dreams. since the age of three years old when i start cheerleading, they have been there. they are my rock and i am blessed to have them.

i made the best decision of my life four years ago to cheer at Morehead State University. this program has taught me so much, not only about cheerleading but about myself. it allowed me to grow in ways i never thought i was capable of. it brought me my brothers and sisters, the people who would do anything for me and i’d do the same for them. i got the opportunity to compete with my dream team this season, large coed. the bond and overwhelming love this team shared was unreal. we continued to show up for each other every single day. this team made me want to succeed, not for myself but for them. thank you large coed, you were unforgettable.

i cannot believe time has flew by this fast, and it’s officially over. the thought of never competing again is heartbreaking, it feels like freshman year was just yesterday. i am forever grateful for the people, lessons, and memories this sport has brought me. i will never forget that electric feeling of hitting in finals with my best friends. the feeling of having no fear on the floor. the drive to do it for you teammates because you love them that much. thank you cheerleading and goodbye. by @alex_hopps
