POSTS STORIES REELS

Does your dispensary represent all of California's cannabis regions?

Not just in quantity—but in diversity.

When you walk into your local shop, can you tell where the cannabis was grown? Is there a representation from Humboldt? Mendocino? Trinity? The Central Coast? Santa Barbara? The Sierra Foothills?

We already appreciate regional identity in wine, coffee, and produce because we understand that place influences the final product.

Cannabis deserves that same conversation.

Every growing region has its own climate, soil, elevation, and cultivation traditions. Those differences shape the plant's expression and the experience it delivers.

As consumers, we have more influence than we think. Every question we ask and every purchase we make helps shape what ends up on dispensary shelves.

The next time you visit your local shop, ask some questions.

You might discover a new farm, a new region, or a completely different cannabis experience.

I'm curious...

Can your local dispensary tell the story of California cannabis, or just the brands they carry?

I'd love to hear where you shop and whether they do a good job representing California's cannabis regions.

Six years of working with local shops and their customers.

Lots of demos. Lots of PADs. Lots of conversations I genuinely enjoy.

Now I’m applying for budtender jobs and getting passed up. 😂

So apparently I need to ask the experts:

What makes a great budtender?

And what makes you want to grab your weed and leave?

Help a guy out. I may have an interview coming.

Let's be honest for a second…

A lot of us in cannabis are trying to make it to 2027 with our sanity (and margins) intact.

Regulations are changing. Markets are shifting. Competition is fierce. And we're still acting like 35% THC tells the whole story.

But as we look toward next year, I keep coming back to one question:

What's actually going to move the needle in 2027?

Growers & brands: Is it better genetics, quality, pricing, retail relationships, or finding the right audience?

Marketing & creators: Is it about reaching more people, building real community, telling better stories, or finding ways to stand out when everyone's fighting for attention?

Retail & budtenders: What gets customers interested, builds trust, and actually gets products moving off the shelf?

Consumers: What earns your dollar these days? Flavor, consistency, price, packaging, the story behind the grower, or something else entirely?

There's a lot of talk about what's wrong with this industry. I'm more interested in what people are doing to move it forward.

Because having a good product is one thing. Getting the right people to notice it, understand it, and come back for it is another.

What's one thing you think this industry needs to figure out before 2027?

I want to hear from the people actually doing the work.

TIME CAPSULE — September 29, 2026

California just signed AB 762 into law.

Starting January 1, 2027, manufacturing and importing disposable, single-use nicotine vapes for California sale is prohibited.

Starting January 1, 2028, retail sales end.

Cannabis was specifically carved out of the final bill during the legislative process.

For now.

And that's the part I want to remember.

Because the battery doesn't know whether the device held nicotine or cannabis.

The waste stream doesn't know.

So what happens when the conversation moves from single-use nicotine vapes to cannabis AIOs and integrated vaporizers?

I'm not saying California is banning them next.

I'm asking:

How long does the exemption last?

Maybe nothing changes.

Maybe the industry develops a better answer for hardware.

Maybe this becomes the beginning of a much bigger conversation about cannabis vape waste.

Save this post.

Let's come back to it in a few years.

Time capsule.

Does anyone else remember Classic Gold?

I found one. And now I’m wondering how many other people still miss it.

So I’m asking Yerba Madre directly:

Can we bring Classic Gold back?

Not a new version.
Not a replacement.

The Classic Gold we remember.

If you want it back too, don’t just tell me.

Tell them.

Okay, now I’m curious.

How do you know when a recommendation is actually for you… and when it’s just something the store wants to move?

No wrong answers. I genuinely want to hear how people look at this.

The machine isn't the craft.

But the right tool can help bring the craft to the consumer.

From the genetics and the farmer… to the people growing, curing and selecting the flower… to the tools that turn it into something ready to enjoy.

Every step matters.

I'm interested in the technology that helps make sure the work doesn't get lost along the way.

Thank you Rollpros - This will be used a lot !

Your "friend" just made a new account because they "got hacked."

Before you hit Follow, ask them something only your real friend would know...

"Hey, when are you paying me back that $180?"

Amazing how fast the conversation ends.

Don't let scammers farm followers. Report the fake account and move on.

The METRC K-Cup Problem

California cannabis has gone through hundreds of millions of METRC tags since legalization. The exact number is hard to know, but the farm-level impact alone is massive.

Now the DCC is looking at allowing group tagging because the current system creates unnecessary economic burden and environmental waste.

It reminds me of coffee.

We had a simple, sustainable system with reusable filters. Then we created the Keurig — convenient, consistent, but now we have a mountain of single-use plastic waste.

Sometimes the solution creates its own problem.

Farmers have always tracked their crops. Genetics, rows, harvests, inputs, quality. Accountability matters.

But maybe the future is smarter systems, not more disposable ones.

The plant was never the problem.

What are some solutions that the industry could use ?

A little over a year ago, @humboldtfamilyfarms dropped off some #sunflower seeds at @embarcchico - I finally put them in the dirt, and the payoff has been pure peace — plus a few goldfinches who think the leaves are their personal snack bar.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of watching something you planted take on a life of its own.

Did anyone else pop these #seeds over the last year? How did they turn out?

I don't know what's stranger...

That camera glasses are becoming normal...

Or that The Final Cut (2004) doesn't feel like science fiction anymore.

If you catch me staring into the camera instead of at you, I'm just making sure I survive the edit.

The Office prepared me.

The Final Cut warned me.
