3rd at the World Championships in the M8+.

Truly humbled to come away with the USA’s first medal at Worlds in the event since 2017.

Personally, this year was checkered with health issues, gut-checks, and self-doubt. Makes this moment that much sweeter.

Thankful for my boatmates, family, and my incredible girlfriend…your support kept me going.

Four years ago we moved to Craftsbury, Vermont to chase a dream. It’s still challenging to put these past few years into perspective, but I’m moved by the army of support that helped manifest this moment.

Since Saturday, I’ve been going back and looking at photos from our first race in the double during 2021 nationals. I feel immense pride to have started this journey with one of the classiest athletes in the sport.

It’s been an honor to serve as an alternate for the US M8+ in their journey to Olympic qualification the past seven weeks. These men are an inspiration beyond articulation.

GRod and I now get the opportunity to complete our own side quest and race the Lucerne World Cup as USA2.

I’ve been sitting with this John Wooden quote for the past couple of days. My main takeaway is a strong sense of gratitude to be part of this US squad as we approach the end of this Olympic campaign. Just finished our first week of training up here in the mountains. Couple hundred more kilometers till we’re back in Sarasota prepping for Winter Speed Order & Olympic Selection camp.

This footage from New Year’s Eve has been getting me thru the long miles.

It’s been a few days since the passing of my Granddad, “Art”, but I’m still searching for the full expression of his positive impact. He often said a person’s worth wasn’t defined by their wealth, but the gifts they shared with others.

Art had a natural talent for sharing the gift of self-belief with those around him. Personally, he encouraged me to pick up an oar and chase a dream 10 years ago.

His support didn’t just end with those words of encouragement. For four years, he would drive to every single one of my college dual races (except one my senior year because he’d been admitted to the hospital).

It’s challenging to know I won’t be seeing his familiar bucket hat on the shore anymore, but there’s no doubt that he’ll be with me every day when I shove off the dock.

Since his passing, I’ve found myself listening to his favorite Sinatra song. I’m leaving the first verse here…it always seemed to make him sneak a smile.

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way by @alexander__hedge

Beyond proud to bring home the USA’s first Pan American Games Gold Medal in men’s rowing since 2011.

Been working towards this moment for a few years now and couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity.

I’m especially grateful to my Grandfather, who inspired me to pursue this endeavor, and my brother, Ezra.

We’re ready to chase more hardware.

6th is a bittersweet reality at the World Championships. Ultimately, it means we missed Olympic Qualification by 0.7 seconds.

I find myself struggling to balance the sting of the aftermath with the knowledge that this summer has been a privilege beyond articulation.

Working alongside 8 of the most dedicated, focused, and talented men I’ve ever met is a gift I’ll never forget. Not to mention, a coaching staff that many only hope of working under.

Ultimately, I can hold my head high knowing that we dared to accomplish something great, and while we might have been checkered by failure, I know what it means to fully commit to a dream.

The work isn’t done and while the path might be rocky, I take solace in a sentiment shared by Coach Gladstone…
