sometimes i remember,
looking back late,
to a year that i still am coming down from.

2025 was tough love.
I counted close to 150 full production days, that‘s without any travel or office time. Spent at least 30 more days in the studio, too.
But what do those numbers even mean -
It goes without saying that I‘ve been pushing it a bit too far.
I‘ve seen a lot of my colleagues and friends struggle under the pressure and strain the current music industry and touring puts on us, artist and crew alike. In the end I was no exception, just absolutely exhausted. And still we celebrate the work and the lifestyle for good reasons, too.

But hey, my favorite succulent (on slide 10) blossomed for the second year in a row and this time I was in luck to briefly be at home for it.

There is intense gratification in a show well delivered and received.
But a show or a project not feeling right can really unsettle one‘s core for a while. Relationships with an artist or project may change any given day, sometimes it‘s way beyond your control.
Still I am grateful for the continuous trust people put in me and my work.
It will always mean a lot. by @alexander_bornschein

me in my studio at Kottbusser Tor, Berlin

that was before i completely rebuilt the place to a mixing room in the pandemic

i guess it‘s at least my 10th anniversary in that space this year then

photo was taken by my dear friend @_kenneth__bergfeld if i remember correctly.

I can see his glasses lying on the table next to my travel bialetti espresso maker that has been with me for longer than i can remember. i‘m still making espresso with it on tour all the time. by @alexander_bornschein

Bringing together a group of people from different ends of this world to create, to share, to listen -
I wouldn’t want to miss the beauty and the challenge of making it happen.

Grateful to have been part of the live debut of @djrontrent presenting @warmsupersonic at @dkmntl Amsterdam and @weoutherefest this summer.

Making physical records on vinyl can be a peculiar thing: sometimes it takes them forever to make their way back to me after I finished my part of the work.

I‘m very happy this one finally found me, since it‘s the project of my dear friend @harkeeratmangat

Thank you for trusting me with this very personal piece of work, as it has been my first venture into Dhrupad music.

Limited edition of 12 + 3 A.P. by @alexander_bornschein

learning about Steve Albini passing away really shook me. mixing my first punk rock gigs on some analog 12 channel mixer, no compressors and just a banged up yamaha digital reverb at age 19, he‘s been a great inspiration. he recorded so many records i loved and his essays and rants about (the) music (industry) spoke to me just like his music did (Shellac).
not that i agree with all of his occasional dogmatism but i always had the greatest respect and admiration for the man and his incredible work.
he kept his studio door open at affordable / reasonable rates when others would have departed for mixer-producer stardom long ago. he seemed immune to it, didn‘t care about royalties, anti-capitalist, always calling out the system‘s bullshit.

rest in peace. by @alexander_bornschein
